7.5 / 10.0 - Windjammers 2
Jan 21, 2022

If you liked Windjammers, you’ll probably like Windjammers 2 even more – but there’s not really enough here to rope in new fans. Windjammers 2 is very much a more of the same type of sequel, but that’s alright by me.

8 / 10.0 - Binary Domain
Jan 20, 2022

It is too bad Binary Domain flew under the radar when it came out and bombed. It has found its audience like all good games eventually do, but the story is likely never to continue. There may never be a proper remaster that fixes the issue with new game plus and enhances the lighting or shaders, but the enhanced backwards compatibility is a worthy consolation.

9.5 / 10.0 - Glyph
Jan 19, 2022

Whether you’re a hardcore platforming speedrunner, or someone who wants to try their hand at a platformer a little more difficult than you’re typical Nintendo fare. I’d be hard-pressed not to recommend Glyph.

8.5 / 10.0 - Expeditions: Rome
Jan 18, 2022

If you’ve never experienced an Expeditions game before, then Expeditions: Rome is a good starting point. It’s by far the most polished and refined game in the series, and features a variety of unique little ideas and mechanics you don’t really see in other RPGs. The first few months of the year are usually pretty slow in terms of releases, so now is the perfect time to dive into a lengthy RPG like Expeditions: Rome.

Shadow Man Remastered today is a bit of an acquired taste. Some may not be able to make their way through such an intensely convoluted world with terrible threats. Others may relish this cryptic descent into the underworld. Regardless, Shadow Man Remastered is undeniably a very impressive remastering, no matter how one feels about the game.

9 / 10.0 - Death's Door
Jan 8, 2022

Death’s Door is a very polished and lovingly crafted action adventure game. It is seemingly a very personal game from the developers and it is steeped with creative ideas in regards to characters and designs. The gameplay is somewhat vanilla, but the ambiance and style elevate the material.

4.5 / 10.0 - Klang 2
Dec 30, 2021

At it’s core, Klang 2 is a pretty cool idea with the heavy visual inspiration from Tron and the alternating basic blue, pink, and orange color schemes that helped games like Audica and Just Beats and Shapes stand out so well. Unfortunately, I don’t think the Nintendo Switch is the best way to experience this game. Combos are often dropped due to a lack of response from pressing the analog stick in the right direction while also trying to time your shots. Most of the time it’s fine, but no matter how many times I replay a stage, I couldn’t seem to score better than a 92%. A score I’d venture to guess I could have easily crushed had I been playing this on a touch screen only interface like VOEZ.

NECRO XIII

Wrapping up our The Caligula Effect 2 review, there’s a lot to like in the game, even if it’s not your cup of tea. The gameplay is fun, maybe even challenging for new players of JRPGS, but it works well after the tutorial segment. Voice acting is professional sounding even if in the locations you hear them doesn’t match the environment.

2 / 10.0 - In My Shadow
Dec 26, 2021

When doing our In My Shadow review, we found it’s the kind of indie game that is so poor it becomes interesting. The layers of incompetence compound on themselves to make something worth talking about and is dense with examples of what not to do when making a game. At times, it’s comical that something like In My Shadow can exist and cost more than some original Xbox games in the Xbox Store.

The gameplay’s novelty may not hold up upon scrutiny on subsequent playthroughs, but that first time playing The Eternal Cylinder is not something that anyone will forget easily. Anyone who enjoys survival gameplay but also wants a directed narrative experience will certainly find a lot to enjoy, but gamers who want to take their time and play at their own pace may become frustrated.

When adapting to its aging mechanics, BloodRayne: ReVamped is very playable and is much more enjoyable experience than its sequel. It is because it is a simpler game, it has less to fumble and is a more focused action game.

Fans of the these games likely already have played them or own them. They are not worth getting on the Switch due to the horrendously unstable frame rate and Ultimate Sumer Camp exists to exploit the fanbase. The scenes of interactions are interchangeable and many of them repeat which makes the overall product feel cheap.

ALTEDEUS: Beyond Chronos is a beautifully crafted game, that can and should be experienced in VR. Being a part of an anime setting, and experiencing everything on a personal scale was intriguing. The polish and detail is absolutely there, and works out amazingly.

7.5 / 10.0 - Halo Infinite
Dec 9, 2021

If the audio didn’t absolutely carry this game, the one thing that I will give Halo Infinite is that it manages to be a good game, better than the other 2 big shooter games released recently. 343 Industries didn’t name this Halo 6 because if they did it would be so far departed from the franchise entirely. Thankfully, this managed to do what I knew it could, which is be the best out of the three FPS games in the past month.

The bug fixes and minor improvements to the overall experience are extremely welcome, and Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX proves itself to be an excellent way to play the games on PC without needing to bother with the hassle of configuring emulators.

Ultimately, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker continues the game’s legacy of immersive storytelling, fantastic music, and inspiring dialogue. Which is fitting, as Endwalker is to be the end of the current saga of Hydaelyn and Zodiark. This statement which has left gamers scratching their heads over what will come next.

While my complaints are numerous, I still enjoyed Jurassic World Evolution 2 more than I was frustrated by it. It’s already better than the original in many ways, and with a few more patches and DLC, it will probably be a great theme park management game. For now, I’d personally recommend holding off to see how the game is improved in the coming months.

7 / 10.0 - Metal Unit
Nov 30, 2021

Metal Unit is an indie title with a great deal of love put into it, and it’s easy to tell. However, there are glaring issues that need to be addressed and dealt with swiftly for longevity. I didn’t hate playing it, but I wish there was fine tuning in some areas.

The lack of care put into this maligned entry suggests that maybe higher ups at Koei Tecmo do not care about Fatal Frame. Maybe it should be laid to rest. If it can’t be allowed to be great, then perhaps it would be better off as nothing.

5 / 10.0 - New World
Nov 28, 2021

New World might be the first ever MMORPG in my two decades of playing these titles that made me hit a wall and go “Yeah – this isn’t fun, I’m out.” That’s saying something, considering I’ve reviewed both TERA and Bless Unleashed.
