NECRO XIII
7 / 10.0 - Little Bug
Feb 22, 2022

While this game has a unique charm to it, it ultimately doesn’t feel completed and I hope that that’s the case. I did have fun piquing my brain for ways to solve some harder segments. The saddening part of the culmination with this game is that it somewhat feels empty without too much other than, gather treasures and move right.

4 / 10.0 - Gunvalkyrie
Feb 22, 2022

The most disappointing aspect of Gunvalkyrie is its tiresome and repetitive gameplay. The unconventional controls can be adapted to, but nobody can adapt to boredom. At around five hours, gamers will see everything Gunvalkyrie has to offer and even then, it will feel like 15 hours.

Anything more that comes out the experience in Bright Memory: Infinite is purely up to you mastering it. Learning stages and how to beat enemies quickly and efficiently is a rewarding experience in and of itself. Simply put, I would recommend this game but almost hesitantly.

With curved expectations, there is still no way getting around the fact that Death end re;Quest 2 is a much more tamer game than its predecessor. Fanservice-y imagery is rarer due to the lack of splash art and fewer panty shots. Violence is much more restrained and more vague than it was in the first game and crass or vulgar dialogue is nonexistent.

8.5 / 10.0 - Infernax
Feb 14, 2022

If you’re a fan of classic Castlevania, you’re gonna like Infernax – and it’s so refreshing to play something that isn’t a soulslike or a roguelike and instead offers a true return to the days of old.

6 / 10.0 - Sifu
Feb 13, 2022

If Sloclap wanted to make Sifu hard, they could have done it without making players have to re-do most of the game from the beginning. Earning and keeping shortcuts should feel rewarding, but in Sifu it only seems like it is a solution to a problem the developers created.

7 / 10.0 - Lost Ark
Feb 13, 2022

Lost Ark tries to be an MMO however and features a shared world (with multiple “channels”, similar to WoW's controversial “shards”). But with a limited amount of NPCs and resources at any given time this is probably for the best. For a free to play game, the graphics are fairly good for an action RPG.

With DLC on the way in March and May 2022, I would say that if you are die hard for these games, pick up what you like. If not, I would almost wait for a good sale to pick up everything and play at your leisure, which is perfectly fine. The King of Fighters XV is a fine addition and a worthy sequel to a long running franchise and I’m glad I got to experience it again.

4 / 10.0 - PopSlinger
Feb 11, 2022

Fighting waves of boogers could have been fun if the mechanics were refined. The ugly and garish visuals with unappealing characters also might have been tolerable if the gameplay loop wasn’t so repetitive. With some rebalancing and checkpoints before bosses, Popslinger could have been a decent guilty pleasure.

PowerSlave: Exhumed is a well preserved classic boomer shooter that still is a joy to play after all these years. Thanks to Nightdive Studios’ panache, it is easier to enjoy more than ever due to their careful QOL additions and improved stability and polish. It may not be as fondly remembered as other shooters, but it is absolutely worth a look for fans of the genre.

5 / 10.0 - EGGLIA Rebirth
Feb 10, 2022

EGGLIA Rebirth is a game designed for the grind. There is always something to work towards and resources will always need harvesting. Fans of farming sims and Animal Crossing will surely find a lot to enjoy with this one.

7 / 10.0 - Aeterna Noctis
Feb 7, 2022

Aeterna Noctis does deliver a satisfying metroidvania experience, but that is all it does. It won’t stay with you or leave a lasting impression other than fatigue. It might have been a better game if it were 25 hours instead of 60; that way it could condense its best aspects into a reasonable package.

If they took the time to flesh out the graphics, Pokemon Legends: Arceus would be considered a must-have. Excluding the game’s lack of voice acting, the story is still an enjoyable tale that gives a deeper look at certain Pokemon’s legends.

That being said, there’s negatives like the progression system, the act of unlocking operators, loadouts for a zombie PVE shooter, and tacked on story mode. I couldn’t possibly recommend this to someone who is looking for their next Tom Clancy game to make them come back to the series. Rainbow Six Extraction is an expansion – just a weirder, disconnected, and unenjoyable expansion.

While Dying Light 2 Stay Human does more than live up to its promises, it also still falls into the same traps that are found in every open-world game. It can be an exhausting grind to do everything that the game offers, but anyone who can let go of this compulsive urge and focus on the task at hand will see Dying Light 2 shine at its best.

My first playthrough took about 20 hours; the game crashed only once, and I only lost a few minutes of progress. The rebalancing offered by New Game+ and online co-op make it very tempting for me to start my next playthrough— although the bog-standard setting and milquetoast humor slightly dampen my enthusiasm. Still, this is an excellent retro action game with razor-sharp mechanics that I highly recommend.

While it’s definitely a dated game that really wants you to jump into Bandai Namco’s equally dated gacha multiplayer game, Code Fairy contains enough worthwhile content to stand on its own if you are looking for a new single player Gundam experience.

6 / 10.0 - Blackwind
Jan 27, 2022

All and all, it’s about what I’d expect from a game built in Unity. Blackwind feels like it was originally designed to be a mobile game and changed at the last minute when they realized there were too many commands for a touch screen. It’s not a great game, but it was kind of fun to play once I figured out how to work around the kinks. Adding some camera controls could easily bump this score up a solid point, but time will tell on any post-release support that Blackwind receives.

Garage: Bad Dream Adventure is a very special and creative adventure game that was made for adults. It depicts some very uncomfortable imagery and explores some very abstract concepts that make more sense to anyone who may be spiritual.

7 / 10.0 - Chorus
Jan 24, 2022

All and all, Chorus isn’t typically my kind of game but it was a pretty fun little romp. The biggest problem I had with it was how repetitive it was – most of the side missions are pretty much the same kind of thing and the biggest boss battles are repeated with a few slight twists to make them a bit harder. Chorus is the perfect game to jump into and dink around for an hour or two before you zone out and move on to something with a little more substance.
