6.5 / 10.0 - Layers of Fear 2
Jul 1, 2019

A lack of actual gameplay and a slow paced, confusing storytelling don't do justice to Layers of Fear 2's interesting premise and fancy visuals.

6.5 / 10.0 - Super Neptunia RPG
Jun 28, 2019

Super Neptunia RPG is a game I tried incredibly hard to like. Despite its stunning visuals and interesting ideas, the game falls short in far too many basic areas. From horrible loading times to lifeless NPCs, strange design choices, and an overall feel of a rushed release, it's something I can only recommend to the die-hard Neptunia fans out there that feel they must see it all. To you brave few, I wish you luck.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is an amazing game, filled with love and passion from its creators and delivers a true "metroidvania" experience. If you like Castlevania games, you'll love this true spiritual successor.

A relatively solid game, but there are better entries in the series. It feels like it has lost its magic over the years, like an over-polished trinket that has lost its identity, it just doesn't hit the spot in terms of gameplay or creativity.

6 / 10.0 - Jupiter & Mars

A splendid voyage which addresses real world issues in a visceral and intellectual manner, Jupiter and Mars is a superb addition to the PSVR library with its easy going and absorbing exploration.

Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland is a game that can be enjoyed both by fans of the Atelier series, newcomers, and those who would otherwise never consider it. This is a great jumping in point due to the fact that, while loosely considered a sequel to an eight-year-old trilogy, it is a completely self-contained game without the stress of older time restricted titles. This game could have done more to innovate upon the previous titles, but it is extremely enjoyable all the same.

It's no Sonic R, that's for sure, but it's certainly a great racing game. The new mechanics are fun to use, and the story mode feels more compelling for single-player than the Career modes did in the All-Stars games.

Resident Evil 4 on the Switch is the same cult game that redefined horror games, almost to a fault. While still enjoyable, it does show its age with no improvements on its stale control scheme.

7.8 / 10.0 - Blood & Truth
Jun 5, 2019

Blood & Truth is a more than worthwhile experience that pushes the PSVR well beyond its limits and is a must-play for PSVR owners. As infuriating as some moments can be, most of my complaints can be blamed on the dated hardware and not the game itself. Though the game isn't flawless and does have some questionable design choices it's still a showcase title that offers enough "wow!" moments to keep you playing through it's 5-6 hour campaign despite its shortcomings.

6.6 / 10.0 - Rage 2
Jun 3, 2019

RAGE 2 lives up to his name by mildly enraging the player - like Icarus, it comes so close to being great and then fumbles on the basics. There are some good ideas here, they just needed more direction and polish. It's not a "bad" game, not by any means, but it's not "good" either, it just "is". It sits in that mid-point where games that are "kinda fun" reside. Should you buy it? Sure. When it's on sale and you're itching for a shooter.

It's been four years, but Resident Evil HD is just as good a remake as when it first launched. For anyone who didn't grow up in the era of the original PlayStation or get around to trying it on another platform, this specific outing of Resident Evil 1 is a great way to get into the series, provided you don't mind a few Switch-related quirks with the port.

Zanki Zero is a game I never expected to enjoy as much as I did. With its diverse cast, bizarre storyline, and myriad of odd quirks aimed to kill your party, it's a brilliant experience, and one I plan to come back to in the future.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is an exceptional experience from start to finish. With an excellent story and well written characters, I would definitely recommend A Plague Tale: Innocence to anyone who loves story-driven games with great stealth mechanics and actually good escort mission gameplay.

8.3 / 10.0 - Mortal Kombat 11
May 14, 2019

Mortal Kombat 11 is a very divisive game, most notably due to the heavy focus on unlockables and in-game kurrency, but if you look past that, it's a very competent and enjoyable fighting game that I would happily recommend. I have no doubt that it will become a staple of tournaments in the coming future, and it deserves to - it polishes the kombat model introduced in MK9 and MKX, making it a fighting game to die for.

6.5 / 10.0 - World War Z
May 11, 2019

A fun game while it lasts and I can't see it lasting more than around 7 hrs to fully play through with a decent team of seasoned TPS/FPS players. Disappointingly inorganic considering the premise, but if gunning down swarms of Zombies is your thing I think you will get a real kick out of it. Definitely worth a play.

6.7 / 10.0 - Days Gone
May 9, 2019

Days Gone sits at the cusp between good and bad. It exists as a wholly mediocre game, relying so much on its inspiration that it never feels unique. When compared to Sony's recent first-party successes in the form of Spider-Man and God of War, it only makes Days Gone that much blander.

6.5 / 10.0 - Close to the Sun
May 7, 2019

Close to the Sun starts out quite promising, but simmers out the longer you play. Despite its walking simulator gameplay and predictable story, however, I find I would still recommend Close to the Sun to anyone who likes adventure horror games. The well-written characters and excellent ambiance really stands out, which can make the game quite enjoyable regardless of its flaws.
