Deliriant's apparent goal of making a video game adaption of The Yellow Wallpaper is certainly unique. It just can't hold a candle to the original short story.
Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 isn't enough of a change from its original release for any of the points that I made back then to have become obsolete. In the end it's just an expansion to an already great fighting game. No more, no less.
Fans of the 3D platforming genre should definitely pick up Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island. Heck, even gamers who aren't obsessed with the genre should give it a shot. Skylar & Plux is accessible to a whole range of gamers, and while the game's biggest shortcoming is its length, there are still plenty of features that can make your playthrough worthwhile.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gives players the full package right from the starting line. With an enormous roster of both characters and raceways to select from MK8 Deluxe brings over all of the content from the Wii U edition of the game and then goes and adds more content. While those wanting the single player experience might not find too much to race for, as a multiplayer title this is a great one to challenge your friends to.
The best story that Samurai Warriors has had to offer, as well as the addition of new mechanics to improve the experience, Spirit of Sanada is a great way to close the chapter on the Samurai Warriors 4 era.
Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit adds more than enough new content to make you want to return to the game. The new transport hubs are handy, and all the quality of life changes make Cities: Skylines even better than it already was if designing your city's public transport network is your thing.
Killers and Thieves may be good in small doses, but the heists are boring and repetitive and the management component, though neat in theory, doesn't provide a lot to do.
Spellspire tries to offer an interesting mix of spelling games and RPGs. Unfortunately, too much of the game is left to luck, and the elemental system made to provide something less luck-based never really matters.
A solid chapter in Dawn of War, the inclusion of minimal MOBA elements only serves to enrich multiplayer gameplay and deepen the strategy. Easy to learn, difficult to master, Dawn of War III is fun without sacrificing the tone of the game world, though maybe breaking a little of the lore. Barring some minor, strange aesthetic choices, this is a powerful foundation for the future of Dawn of War.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 is a well-polished strategy game for fans of Chinese history or even just Dynasty Warriors. The combat is fun, ranking up is fulfilling, and learning about the Three Kingdoms is a great bonus.
I won't try and argue that Trails in the Sky - the 3rd is a perfect game, but I will say that if you're a fan of JRPGs you absolutely need to play this game at least once. The 3rd is both a perfect send-off for Trails in the Sky, as well as a fantastic build-up for the titles to come. Just, hopefully, we'll be able to see ALL of them in English one day.
Mortal Blitz is a perfectly fun on-rails shooter that doesn't do enough to distinguished itself from other on-rails shooters available on the market. Still, if you enjoy the genre, you'll probably get an hour or two of fun out of it.
Passengers: Awakening is an ultimately pointless game that feels more like a 20 minute ad for the movie. The puzzles are too easy, while the idea of getting to explore the Avalon doesn't pan out. The only good thing here is the appearance of some of the movie's actors.
The Surge has great gameplay and wonderful levels to get lost in as you run around throwing limbs about and destroying robots.
Yooka-Laylee is a fun game, but its controls, plot and somewhat plentiful bugs hamper the experience. 3D platformer veterans will find something to like here, but others might be turned off.
Managing to avoid the slower pace and lack of events the last episode presented, Thicker than Water continues the The Walking Dead: A New Frontier with a solid episode leading up to an interesting finale.
Salt and Sanctuary is an amazing game that is well paced and has layers of gameplay that slowly unfold the more you play. This game is recommended even if you are shy of the difficulty of the Souls series and is throughly rewarding.
Heocade is composed of 9 games, and of those 8 of them are terrible. Only Dreadhalls is worth playing, but maybe it's better to wait and see if it gets a cheaper individual release than being stuck in this horrid collection.
