Project DIVA Future Tone is easily the most content complete Project DIVA title yet. It's not perfect - and it won't necessarily appeal to all fans of the series - but it nonetheless stands as one of 2017's first must buy titles.
Dishonored 2 is a functional follow-up to a classic that is mired by the addition of all sorts of unnecessary elements.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier opens up with two strong episodes that have me the most invested I've been in The Walking Dead since the first release. Hopefully fleshing out the characters a little more can push this season to be even more memorable.
World of Final Fantasy is a love-letter to the entire Final Fantasy franchise and its diehard fans. This is pure uncut Final Fantasy directly injected into your veins. Newcomers to the franchise will find an accessible battle system to work with but a completely convoluted and, frankly, bad story to deal with. The soundtrack is worth sticking around for, though.
An absolutely stunning achievement in using the interactive medium. A few bugs and control issues aside, this is a must play for those who can handle the slow pace.
Onyx Lute's Glass Masquerade is a good puzzler on Steam, proving that a simple pleasure is perhaps the best way to go sometimes.
Telling one of the most interesting Batman stories in any medium, Batman: The Telltale Series is a really cool take on Batman with some great fight scenes and fun investigations. It just really needs some technical polish.
Wild Guns: Reloaded takes everything fun about the original and cranks it up to eleven, but the value proposition might be too much for some.
With Batman: The Telltale Series finally done, City of Light provides an interesting final episode with some great fight scenes and final story moments. Sadly it also has the absolute worse technical issues I've seen in a Telltale episode that do a really good job not letting City of Light end on the high note it should.
EVE: Gunjack can be fun in short bursts, but I didn't find much to keep me coming back to the game as it's far too easy to get everything after a couple of hours. Still, it's a fun couple of hours.
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood may have almost nothing to do with the base game, but it's a genuinely fun on-rails shooter that shows off some great boss fights and scary moments.
Beholder is a game where the simple mechanics are just the tip of the iceberg. The game bombards the player with hard moral choices in a world where every decision may have dire consequences.
Essentially, if you already have The Ship: Murder Party, don’t bother with the pointless remake. Its $20 cost does not do it any favors, and even on its current sale there are a ton of better options at this price point.
Final Fantasy XV exhibits some fun action combat and a few examples of good level design. However, it's lacking in its other RPG elements, especially the pacing of the plot.
Farnham Fables' second episode has boring gameplay and a story that lacks anything related to an interesting conflict. It also has a strange soundtrack that cuts in and out to make random noises. Above all else, it has scenes that made me feel so uncomfortable that I genuinely believe it's time we have a chat with God about starting over as a species. We clearly don't deserve our sentience.
An excellent stealth game with beautiful visuals and incredibly deep, complex and varied gameplay.
Without any new content from the last release, broken controls, and an absurd amount of glitches, Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality is really the one that needed surgery.
How We Soar shows off some lovely locations, making some great use of VR. More than that, though, it tells a good relatable story, has fun mechanics that take advantage of flight, and is the game that made me stop and rethink how VR can be used for other games.
Dead Rising 4 lacks both the conviction to truly strike out on its own and the features and mechanics that will please franchise fans. As is, it's a game that is bland at its best and downright contemptuous at its worst.
The Little Acre is criminally short for a point and click adventure. However, the charm of the story and the gorgeous animation work make it worth the time to visit.
