Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is a simple, frenetic and fun game that is hindered by a mediocre port. It's not a game for everyone, obviously, but if you're in this kind of gameplay and... uhm... other stuff, there's value to be found.

7.5 / 10.0 - Tron Run/r
Jun 25, 2016

Tron Run/r is easily one of my favorite take on the runner genre, even despite the occasional stumble. This is not a game that you should derezz anytime soon.

7 / 10.0 - Umbrella Corps
Jun 25, 2016

It takes some getting used to the turbo speed and strange camera, plus the tacked-on single player is a total fluke, but Umbrella Corps is a strangely compelling online shooter with a few unique ideas that made it a lot more fun than I was expecting.

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered has some decent gameplay, but the game seems focused on little other than continuously grinding until you're bored of it.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is best when you're on the move, climbing up a tall building and booking it across rooftops. When the world is like a puzzle that you are solving on the fly using all your skills. These moments are in the game, there just isn't that many of them.

Sophie is a fun game that is ultimately marred by a tedious advancement system, vague mission objectives, and the choice to downplay its battle system in favor of character interactions and dialogue. If it were to balance these elements better, Sophie would easily have been a much better game worthy, but as things stand we can only hope that the next game in the trilogy will bring more balance to Gust's trademark series.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Blackheart is a rather challenging game. The story is run of the mill, but the game has fun little moments that make it truly feel like a return to the Neptunia universe and it translates the RPG genre to turn-based tactics well. If you like TBT’s and love the Neptunia franchise then this is a must play game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Utopia 9
Jun 23, 2016

A flawlessly-executed combination of roguelike design, twin-stick-shooter gameplay and tragicomic backstory.

Total War: Warhammer is a well-thought out iteration of the Total War franchise, which means that those that are still on the fence on buying the title should expect a release that is everything one may expect from a polished Total War title… for better or worse.

While Tokyo Mirage Sessions is only going to appeal to a niche audience, it's a solid enough JRPG in its own right that it's worth checking out even if you're not a fan of either SMT or FE. However if you're in it for the story, you're likely to be disappointed.

A solid strategy game that could do with more challenge and only really shines on mobile platforms.

Deadlight: Director's Cut is just a port of Deadlight to the new consoles without much new added to it. Its the kind of thing that I'm not entirely sure why it needed to happen. If you've never played Deadlight before then you aren't missing much, and if you have then there's no reason to pick this up.

6.5 / 10.0 - Breached

Smooth and immersive play elements conflict with a short campaign, limited replay value, and a poignant but shallow story.

6 / 10.0 - Mighty No. 9
Jun 20, 2016

Mighty No. 9 is a serviceable callback to the original Mega Man that is brought down by baffling design decisions and a strict adherence to mechanics that were phased out for a reason.

2 / 10.0 - Farnham Fables
Jun 20, 2016

The first episode of Farnham Fables is not a great start to a series. It's tonally inconsistent, has no real gameplay to speak of, doesn't really look all that good, has an annoying soundtrack, and did a great job making me feel super uncomfortable.

Rounding it all out, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- adds enough new content to appeal to both hardcore and casual fighting game fans alike. Although the game isn't as much an evolution of the franchise as Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- was at its release, it's still more than easy enough to recommend.

7 / 10.0 - Koihime Enbu
Jun 11, 2016

Koihime Enbu is an accessible anime fighter that focuses on spacing, fundamentally sound play and the Fatal Counter system. The art direction is great though the music is a bit forgettable. If only the online community on PC existed this game might have real legs as a gateway game into the fighting game genre.

Dead Island Retro Revenge is not quite a runner, not quite a beat em up, and not quite a good game.
