8 / 10.0 - #Funtime
Jul 16, 2020

#Funtime is a fun time! Its twin-stick shooting mechanics, coupled with explosive colors and effects, along with an inviting soundtrack that drops beats left and right make #Funtime well worth one’s time.

8.6 / 10.0 - Roundguard
Jul 7, 2020

Roundguard helped relieve my feelings of anxiety during this global pandemic and satiated my desire to play D&D. This game could be even more fun with a co-op element or game mode. Complete bouncing mayhem!

7.2 / 10.0 - Stranded Deep
Jun 23, 2020

Stranded Deep has borderline wretched controls and has some crafting and survival mechanics that make the boy scout and backpacker in me furrow my brow in confusion. That being said, the game is fun and exceptionally rewarding!

8.2 / 10.0 - Disintegration
Jun 22, 2020

Disintegration is only the second RTS title to keep my attention for a long period of time. If you are still in doubt, watch streams or multiplayer videos but I can say that Disintegration is worth the $49.99 USD price tag.

8.2 / 10.0 - Trials of Mana
Jun 16, 2020

The Trials of Mana remake is an excellent remake. A full 3D adaptation of a 2D Super Nintendo game has its challenges, which Square Enix faced in their first two efforts in this franchise let alone their other titles.

8 / 10.0 - Evan's Remains
Jun 16, 2020

Evan’s Remains is a simple, solid, and entrancing title. It is one of the better games that I have reviewed here and is one that I will heartily recommend to nearly anyone else. Now I want to look into whatever else this developer has made and will make.

If you’re looking for a polished and full-fledged experience, look elsewhere. The games aren’t perfect, but there are definitely hours of enjoyment for a measly $7 USD.

6 / 10.0 - Liberated
Jun 11, 2020

Then again, when you find yourself trapped in an authoritarian government that makes peaceful protest dangerous, then maybe violence is the only answer. At least that’s what the Liberated believe.

8.8 / 10.0 - A Fold Apart
Jun 10, 2020

As a whole, it was a beautifully presented experience in human relationships in a time where it’s easy to feel disconnected from each other, whether that’s due to physical distance or other less tangible barriers.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens is definitely a highlight for the series, building on the jump to HD from its predecessor while finally finding a way to match the traditional dance and transformation mechanics with the speed and ease of use from Pirate’s Curse.

7.2 / 10.0 - Thy Sword
Jun 1, 2020

Despite the short length and little replayability, Thy Sword is a charming action title that is highly recommended for those looking for a more simple experience that is nonetheless fun and rewarding.

6 / 10.0 - Filament
May 28, 2020

For hardcore puzzle fans and Mensa members, Filament is a treat. It makes zero concessions to players but it is also completely fair in puzzle design.

Perhaps Oddworld Inhabitants and Nintendo were banking more on nostalgia rather than content for sales. Perhaps they only recently had the idea to rerelease this game. Either way, considering that they had twenty years to fix the issues, the result is disappointing.

8.7 / 10.0 - Minecraft Dungeons
May 24, 2020

Minecraft Dungeons may only take a few hours to beat if you’re set on grinding the levels on solo play. The local and online co-op play is where replay value is added. Minecraft Dungeons is a must-have addition to your game collection and great for the whole family.

9.8 / 10.0 - Streets of Rage 4
May 18, 2020

Streets of Rage 4 was a blast to play, taking me back to my childhood and allowing me to have a reason to play with my friends. I recommend it not just to fans of the series, but as a fun introduction to this classic franchise.

Personally, I usually require a video game to have a compelling story or character development, or else I get bored, but Dungeon of the Endless was fun enough on its own that I could forget about my need for a narrative. However, those bugs that I mentioned effectively break the game, and I sincerely hope that Amplitude fixes them. I would love to play more without fear that the game will simply shut down on me.

Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories is definitely not worth the $60 retail price but it would be worth picking up in the $20 to $40 range.

There are some terrific improvements, and the soundtrack is still just as excellent as it was when I first played this game in 1997, but the story itself hasn’t aged well and these new liberties are paltry and weak. I’m hoping to be wowed in Remake part two.

This collection and the Kiwami remakes are an amazing opportunity to get into the Yakuza series with them all now available on PS4 and with Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon being just around the corner.

It’s a nice throwback to the days of video games, but it does leave me wanting more. So in essence, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl is the perfect snack before we get to Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch.
