This is one of the finest gaming series to ever grace the industry, and you owe it to yourself to own this piece of gaming history. Now would you kindly go and buy Bioshock: The Collection at your earliest convenience.
Everyone it is claimed that this year’s PES is a return to form and I’ve fell victim to that statement myself, but now I can truly say that this is the very best PES in a long-time and its back to reclaim its championship!
I don’t think there are any noteworthy improvements or flaws with this version, and if you’re a fan who’s already played another port then I can’t really see this being of interest to you. For everyone else, however, I would thoroughly recommend if you’re into visual novels or even just the anime or manga. It’s such a great story and theme, with lovable characters and solid writing.
There's not much replayability on offer and it won't last you very long, but Cross of the Dutchman is a cheap title with a handful of thrills. It's mediocre in many respects, but I'd say it at least does the trick for a short adventure.
Virginia is the only thing which prevents itself from achieving greatness, as it tries to imitate a TV show, while attempting to abandon the fact that it’s a videogame. As previously stated, a combination of videogame mechanics, with a structure and direction of a TV series, is borderline impossible and Virginia is a great example of that.
The Bunker is a game with big ideas that fails to reach the heights it obviously wants to. The stiffness of movement and animation loops, coupled with the continuity errors and the awkward gameplay means it is constantly drawing you out from being truly immersed in the game. There are things that The Bunker does right and it is definitely an interesting experiment that some may enjoy, but it falls in to all the usual trappings of the genre whilst failing to bring anything that feels new to the table.
The experience of Dear Esther would be identical if it was presented as a short story, or an on-rail VR video. The lack of interactivity only further exposes the flaws which have been created through forceful transition of Dear Esther from paper into a videogame format. But despite all its flaws, it is still an interesting ‘thing‘ to experience, especially if you want to see the beginnings of the walking simulators first hand.
Ultimately, Mount & Blade: Warband is a thing of the past available to the modern populous. And due to its clunky mechanics, which are spread across every aspect of the title, in combination with poor and uninspiring aesthetic, Warband will only pleasure a very small sample of individuals who decide to undertake the challenge of becoming the king of the land.
Seasons After Fall offers colour and charm by the bucket load – as developer Swing Swing Submarine’s magical platforming fox adventure hits the right notes with a gorgeous hand drawn art style, and a concept to match its colourful aesthetic. But there are some core issues that hold it back.
What are ya buyin? Well, it seems you may be buying another release of Resident Evil 4, this time on PS4 or Xbox One. But will this be the best version of game to date?
Madden is back for another NFL season, continuing its impressive run to over 30 years, the majority have been decent games. Even though we have had some great Madden titles in the past, there’s a few that stand out and Madden 17 is one of them.
No Man's Sky is not a game where the focus is on story. Its focus is on exploring a galaxy, seeing beautiful things and having some cool moments. It may be a tired cliché, but it’s something that is definitely not for everyone. For those it is for though it's great.
Inside is intriguing, terrifying, haunting, puzzling and quite simply, magnificent.
A very creative, if simply presented, puzzle platformer that gets every aspect spot on and doesn't outstay its welcome.
It’s been 22 years since the release of the original King of Fighters and with The King of Fighters XIV, it’s a gem of a game that’s stayed true to its roots, but remains as relevant as ever.
Its main issues surround a lack of depth and some repetitive design, but while also a little irritating in places, the gameplay is solid and engaging. The aesthetic, sound design and premise are top notch, and I think if you’re interested in a simple dungeon crawler, then Brut@l can provide a great time for you.
An exceptional racing simulator, with an edge like no other, which ironically lacks the final polish, which bars it from greatness.
On PC Armikrog would be a slightly better experience. It struggles to make the transition to controller well and the subtitles are still sized for a PC monitor rather than a television screen. It's hard to really pinpoint what would make Armikrog a better game as there's so many issues with it. There is a definite charm to it though, thanks to the visuals and audio that make it a pleasant experience when you're not stuck on a tedious puzzle. It's just a shame that the game feels so dated and the tedious puzzles are far too frequent.
For the first time Telltale Games have ventured into the world of DC Comics with their adaptation of the Batman universe. But will this game offer something new or have we seen it all before?
F1 2016, in many ways is just like the sport itself. It’s interesting before the race begins, as viewers can spectate the inner workings of the sport, but once the race gets going, and racers continue to pass laps one by one, it all turns into a one, soul destroyingly dull blur, which soon makes one want to switch the channel, as nothing is happening, and you’re simply watching the same Rolex banners over, and over again.
