PlayStation Universe's Reviews

Oct 6, 2015

One of the most intellectually stimulating experiences on PS4, with imaginative puzzles, fantastic atmosphere and a brilliant expansion that builds tremendously on the core game.

Disgaea 5 is an excellent title for any gamer, but the interesting mechanics, impressive visuals, and expansive universe make it a must-play for tactical RPG enthusiasts.

4.5 / 10.0 - NBA Live 16
Oct 5, 2015

There's not much positive to NBA Live 16 apart from the unique menus and the well-conceived game modes. Gameplay is borderline crippling, leaving the final product on the whole incomplete. Uneven growth keeps this year's outing from being justifiably on anyone's radar.

8.5 / 10.0 - LEGO Dimensions
Oct 1, 2015

An intoxicating mix of familiar game worlds, great script-writing and impressive LEGO building and interaction, brings this latest LEGO game into a whole new dimension.

The Nathan Drake Collection presents a trilogy of single-player adventures at their technical best, but the value proposition will depend on series experience and a few matters of preference.

Dancing All Night is a joy to play and a powerful nostalgia trip for Persona 4 fans, but it’s slim on content in a way that could limit universal appeal.

8 / 10.0 - Extreme Exorcism
Sep 27, 2015

Extreme Exorcism invigorates the arena battler with its brilliant ghost mimicking mechanics, proving to be a highly entertaining proposition for either a group of friends or the lone player to stuck into.

8.5 / 10.0 - SOMA
Sep 27, 2015

A thought-provoking journey that creates tension with its brilliant audio work, SOMA lacks some of the jump scares found in other survival horror games, but offers new ideas that keep you totally immersed.

That Afro Samurai 2's first episode gets so much wrong in such a small amount of time speaks volumes about its laundry list of problems. A disastrous experience all round.

8.5 / 10.0 - FIFA 16
Sep 26, 2015

It's maddening, beautiful and downright frustrating all in the same utterance; an unpredictable, oftentimes surprising, experience that gives and takes in the same breath. It's more like the sport that it's trying to replicate than ever before and oddly enough that's not always as laudable as one might think. Though not as refined as optimally as one would hope, there is undoubted progress in this year's FIFA.

The football is sublime in PES 2016. There are small improvements made to other areas of the game, and some are still needed, but on the pitch the series is in title-winning form once again.

8 / 10.0 - NHL 16
Sep 22, 2015

NHL 16 is the type of game NHL fans wanted last year. Full access to game modes and a welcoming execution for newcomers makes NHL 16 an essential purchase for anyone interested in the game of hockey. With the small issues aside, hockey has never been better than this.

8.5 / 10.0 - Flame Over
Sep 21, 2015

A charming and well-constructed take on the twin stick shooter, Flame Over endears itself greatly with easy to play, yet difficult to master mechanics which neatly avoid the frustration usually associated with roguelike titles.

A long-awaited localization of a famed franchise that fails to make an impact. With little depth or strategy, this is a game designed for those who love Japanese history or are franchise diehards. Only that love will keep you wanting to play through the game more than once.

While not everyone's cup of tea, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 is a solid entry into the franchise that fans won't want to miss.

7 / 10.0 - Mad Max
Sep 8, 2015

While it's a jack of all trades and master of none, there is a distinct charm inherent with Avalanche Studios' take on Mad Max and provided you can get it cheaper than its full price listing you could certainly do a lot worse.

6 / 10.0 - I Am Bread
Sep 4, 2015

I Am Bread is a sandwich short of a picnic, but it's the quirkiness that makes it fun. An awkward control scheme, repetition and frame-rate issues suck some of that fun away, but if you're up for a few laughs then you could do a lot worse than going on a quest to become toast.

8 / 10.0 - Zombie Vikings
Sep 3, 2015

A gloriously funny and unabashedly enjoyable side-scrolling hack em' up, Zombie Vikings is great fun with friends but falls just short of true excellence on account of some glaring visual flaws.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tearaway Unfolded
Sep 2, 2015

A great platformer in its own right, Tearaway Unfolded doesn't quite capture the revelatory magic of its Vita predecessor, partly because the gameplay and scope remain limited next to sophisticated, inventive controls.
