New Game Network's Reviews

Jul 19, 2014

Divinity: Original Sin is a detailed and engrossing RPG with great combat and a healthy dose of charm, but the weak central narrative, goofy tone and myriad moments where you don't know what to do or where to go greatly mar the experience.

58 / 100 - Wayward Manor
Jul 18, 2014

For a game with such a well established author behind it, Wayward Manor is a little disappointing. However it is quite endearing. Perhaps a game to be played with your children, rather than viewing it as a fully fledged puzzle game.

74 / 100 - Armillo
Jul 16, 2014

Armillo is a fun puzzle-platformer that has a lot going for it. Great level design, mechanics, and music are only bogged down by the poor physics in the bonus stages and certain "Dark" areas.

An emotional, rewarding take on the Great War in a medium that often glosses over the horrors of battle. Beautiful, sad, triumphant.

57 / 100 - GRID Autosport
Jul 12, 2014

Reusing tracks drags the career down and highlights other flaws. Multiplayer has good features, but is hurt by paltry income and wait times. GRID Autosport is a disappointing racing grind that falls well short of the original.

The addition of the US and OKW armies pump fresh blood into the already enjoyable multiplayer of this outstanding WWII RTS.

70 / 100 - Sniper Elite III
Jul 6, 2014

Sniper Elite 3 puts in a respectable effort to improve on its predecessors, with bigger levels and more gameplay variety, but is ultimately let down by bugs and a lack of polish.

While the title attempts to do right by Cybertron fans, it ends up making a mess of things. The core gameplay isn't bad, nor is the structure of the game itself, but it is simply boring. Mix boring with the game's technical flaws and there's not much to love about Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark.

80 / 100 - Pushmo World
Jun 28, 2014

An engaging, interesting puzzler that's both charming and addictive, but doesn't reinvent the wheel of the 3DS' originals.

Murdered: Soul Suspect is a game that some could find enjoyable in the span of one afternoon, but with the repetitive and restrictive gameplay, many will deem this supernatural mystery is not worth solving.

A Story About My Uncle has a lot to improve upon but the core gameplay is so fun that it's easy to look past a lot of its flaws. I would love to see add-ons and new challenges. I don't need more story, just let me get back in that Adventure Suit and keep swinging around.

A poor port of a boring handheld cash in. Do yourself a favour and avoid.

For all its insights and challenging moral dilemmas, Always Sometimes Monsters is a frustrating, confusing, sometimes agonizingly tedious jumble that's just a little bit too pleased with itself. It's a fascinating game to observe, but enjoyable? No, I think not.

Bests the original with sensible improvements to combat and world design. Tower defense missions are packed with great action and other additional features improve replay value.

While Sir, You Are Being Hunted is a competently made game, its British personality and enemies aren't enough to save it from bland environments, ugly visuals and an overabundance of food and weaponry.

93 / 100 - Mario Kart 8

The best game on Wii U, and the reason you'll keep coming back to it. Grab some friends and Mario Kart 8 simply won't disappoint.

It's Worms as you remember them, with a bit of added shine and a few new weapons. If it's been a while, you can't go wrong with Battlegrounds, though be weary of the hefty price tag.

Out of nowhere, MachineGames have turned up to the first-person-shooter party with the old man of the genre and given the likes of EA and Activision an absolute beating. Wolfenstein: The New Order is an early shout for FPS campaign of the year.

70 / 100 - MLB 14: The Show
May 24, 2014

MLB 14: The Show is a fair game, and those looking forward to a new generation of the series and the small upgrades it brings will enjoy what it has to offer. Those who have spent years with series might find themselves ready for something new. The technical hiccups, the lack of creativity in the single-player, the randomness of success, it all feels a little passe in a new generation.
