6 / 10.0 - Spheroids
Feb 18, 2017

For the most part, Spheroids is a fun platformer and Pang hybrid that older and younger gamers will enjoy. Keep in mind that all 8 chapters can be completed in a couple hours, at a cost of $7.99. This game is worth it for gamerscore fans, but I don't see many players coming back after earning all achievements. If you are looking for a unique game that doesn't overstay its welcome, Spheroids might be for you.

7 / 10.0 - Halo Wars 2
Feb 16, 2017

There is plenty of fun to be had, but in the end Halo Wars 2 feels like just another decent game from a popular franchise.

9 / 10.0 - Sniper Elite 4
Feb 13, 2017

Despite the similar formula to previous games, I'm feeling absolutely no franchise fatigue after hours of playing Sniper Elite 4. Every aspect of the game benefits from the change in setting and devotion to current generation hardware.

7.5 / 10.0 - Uncanny Valley
Feb 13, 2017

While Uncanny Valley has some design flaws it has a great story at its heart. Some elements fall apart over the course of many playthroughs but that doesn't change the fact that your first or second run will be an atmospheric treat. If you've got an hour here or there or a few hours to get through the whole thing I think Uncanny Valley is worth experiencing for any fan of horror or psychological games.

I have to say for a dating simulator I was rather surprised how addictive it was at least for a short while. Kitty Powers' Matchmaker is different from mostly anything else I've played on PlayStation 4. It's got charm, humor, fun, love, but just doesn't have that long lasting relationship material in it.

9 / 10.0 - Linelight
Feb 10, 2017

Linelight doesn't bring anything new to the puzzle genre necessarily but it does just about everything perfectly. It's got great puzzle design that gives you a rewarding feeling when you overcome its obstacles and unlock that next world. It's got such a relaxing soundtrack and visual style that will help relieve you of any stress you might be under.

8 / 10.0 - Aqua Kitty UDX
Feb 5, 2017

With multiple gameplay modes, difficulty settings, co-op and leaderboards, there is a lot of content in Aqua Kitty UDX. This is the type of game that screenshots and videos don’t do justice, you need to get your hands on it to really appreciate how fun it is. Fans of shmups will enjoy the challenging yet rewarding gameplay.

Tales of Berseria is a fantastically written JRPG that delivers a deep, emotional story that kept me going until the end.

Knee Deep tries something new with its awesome stage play style but just falls short of being great due to poor visuals and simple gameplay style. I enjoyed the story throughout and it did keep me playing until the end. If Prologue Games can improve on the technical faults of this game and make the gameplay more varied and your choices more meaningful then Knee Deep could become something great in the future. As it stands it’s a good adventure title worth checking out at some point.

Candleman is a game that is unique and a joy to play. Every chapter provided a different gameplay element which kept things fresh.

Resident Evil 7 is a much better game, and much better Resident Evil game compared to Resident Evil 6 but it’s not this generations Resident Evil 4, actually it’s quite far from it. It’s also far from being a bad game, actually it’s a pretty good game that’s worth purchasing but the issues keeps it from reaching it’s full potential.

7 / 10.0 - Nevermind
Jan 22, 2017

Nevermind is a game unlike any I have ever played before and one that is worth experiencing. I would have preferred it to be much scarier than it is, perhaps turning to cult classic Eternal Darkness for inspiration. Once you complete the five missions there isn’t much incentive to collect all the memories, aside from achievements/trophies. The game is also a bit pricey at $19.99 USD, which may turn some off. Even though I didn’t get scared, I never knew what to expect when probing the mind of the next patient. If you are up for trying something new and have some extra cash, Nevermind will definitely get you thinking.

9 / 10.0 - Yakuza 0
Jan 20, 2017

As someone who never played a Yakuza game through before and had only watched bits and pieces of previous entries Yakuza 0 delivered a hefty, meaty package that has now secured my residence in its world. I can imagine that for veteran Yakuza players this game is probably even better but I can’t recommend it enough if you have never played a Yakuza game before. The story here is the perfect jumping in point and it just has so much fun content within that it’s just hard to believe.

There are some good RTS games on current gen consoles and some bad ones but Siegecraft Commander falls somewhere in between. It does some things really well but things like the wonky aiming controls hold it back from being great.

2064: Read Only Memories is a game I had my eye on for quite some time and I’m happy that it delivered in the end. I liked how I was able to just sit back and enjoy this wonderful trip into a futuristic San Francisco without having to grow frustrated or get stuck. The story and interesting cast of characters kept me hooked all the way through and the visuals and sound design did nothing but make the experience that much better.

8.5 / 10.0 - Dead Effect 2
Jan 14, 2017

If you were to tell me a month ago, that a mobile port would possibly be my favorite indie FPS, I’d have a hard time believing you. Yet here we are with Dead Effect 2, a game that more than satisfies my single player itch. Graphically it looks great, controls are nearly perfect and they managed to balance the gameplay to keep it challenging but not overly frustrating. Every kill and every dollar are meaningful and when shooters have meaning they are hard to put down.

8.5 / 10.0 - Rise & Shine

While I don’t think any game is perfect, Rise & Shine is incredibly exemplary. Highly recommended.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone I have to say is absolutely worth the price of admission. The 200+ song list is just a crazy amount of content and there are tons of customization options to unlock along the way. Yes there aren’t any goals set out in the game leaving it up to the player to set them themselves. For any hardcore Miku fan I think this game is a must have and if you have been interested in the series but never jumped in yet this is probably the best entry point.

Momonga Pinball Adventures definitely scores points with me when it comes to originality, responsive controls and a charming world. Serious fans of pinball should stick with the more traditional games mentioned in the introduction, as this game won't scratch that pinball itch much. Everyone else looking for something lighthearted, or especially something for younger children, shouldn't be afraid of giving Momonga Pinball Adventures a shot.

8 / 10.0 - Bard's Gold
Dec 28, 2016

I keep coming back to the thought that Bard's Gold keeps me coming back. I play a lot of games and retro inspired ones can be the most frustrating; more often than not I just give up and move on to something else. Bard's Gold is different from those, I'm rewarded for my efforts in success and failure.
