Crush Your Enemies is a great combination of depth and simplicity
Super Mutant Alien Assault has a lot to offer in terms of pure, unadulterated arcade action
Despite combat being competent and at times empowering, the game suffers severely from a sense of repetition
There's a decent variety of attack options on offer but it all ends up feeling just a bit too chaotic
This is almost certainly the fanboy in me talking but I Am Setsuna deserves more
The swinging is ironically the worst part of the game for me. Whilst the running and jumping can be overcome somewhat by accommodating their shortcomings by adapting your play-style, the swinging mechanic can’t be negotiated with
The learning curve takes a while to really master but due to the short burst nature of the missions, I never felt burned out or even frustrated
Song of the Deep is undoubtedly at its best when you’re out tackling the many puzzles and problems that stand in the way of story progression
Very quickly Tumblestone went from just any other casual puzzle game to the best puzzle game I've played in years
Helping your teammates is great and honourable, but watching enemies drive in circles due to inverted controls is pure gold
Despite the intense final battles, each level is nothing but a gift to its players
Dangerous Golf‘s biggest downfall [is] at times, it’s just too challenging for its own good
The hand-to-hand combat, which takes up the bulk of gameplay, is simple and brutal
Funk of Titans is a side-scroller platformer that never seems to get out of first gear no matter how hard the player tries
If it wasn’t for the sheer zaniness of its characters and its fast paced nature then JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven‘s limited combat would fall flat on its face
The tone of the level itself feels like it’s been ripped straight out of a Bond movie
The world map is fairly sizeable for a game of its size, with plenty of different regions each with their own unique flavour to explore
One area that is absolutely flawless is the sound design. From the opening Star Wars theme… to the voice acting and more, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens sounds so authentically Star Wars that it was easy to forget that I was playing a goofy game with LEGO
The panning camera highlights each location as a beautiful vista through superb background detail
It's clear that the combat is secondary to the story and serves as a feature rather than an integral mechanic
