Overall, "The Frozen Wilds" gives one more taste of the game's amazing combat, world and character animation to players like myself who loved Horizon (whether it was straight away or after coming back to it). It's a pity that Guerrilla has stated this will be the game's only piece DLC as it lays even more hints for a greater story in this world.
This feels like the beginning of a new major RPG franchise to compete with the other giants. If you like this style of game you'll love it and if you're not usually into JRPGs it's a perfect gateway to the genre.
Consider this an earnest recommendation: go and expand your horizons with Discovery Tour. You won't be disappointed.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is more of the same Tomb Raider experience we've known since 2013, and that's precisely why you should be making the trek to Paititi.
Moonlighter is a wonderful combination of Zelda and Animal Crossing that easily commands your constant attention. It looks beautiful with a lovely, pixelated style; music from the shop and the dungeons will be stuck in your head for days. The only fault I could find with Moonlighter it's relatively short — I wanted more dungeons, more enemies to topple, more items to sell.
I honestly enjoyed my time with Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. It adds new elements to the franchise's recipe that I enjoy, and some of the story beats look to be leading future instalments in a really interesting direction.
Once you get the hang of it, Guacamelee 2 really is for everyone — challenging, but not too challenging
Sekrio: Shadows Die Twice continues FromSoftware’s dominance, showcasing that it’s on another level when it comes creating action games in fantastical worlds. You’re going to die, and you’re go die a lot. But these brilliant gameplay systems that come together to form experiences that we don’t see in other triple-A games is why people get excited for what Hidetaka Miyazaki is doing at FromSoftware.
Anybody who enjoys, or has ever enjoyed, a Trials game owes it to themselves to check this out. Folks out there that just really enjoy challenging themselves should probably give it a look too
Gears 5 has some great innovations, held back behind the same ol'.
The series found a comfortable stride in the handheld world, and moving away from that isn’t always a strong step – so it’s a good thing that the Switch is a little bit of both worlds. The game is great for playing in short bursts, with even ten to fifteen minutes feeling like enough to really get something done, even if it’s just returning a bunch of lost items to your units in the monastery to boost your support links. The characters are endearing and help draw you into the world and its story, complete with divine mysteries to carry you through the school year.
Shadowkeep is a big stride forward for Destiny 2, and it shows that Bungie cares about its game.
Afterparty should be commended for its diabolical sense of humour and elegantly crafted conversations. While it’s definitely the wrong time of year for additional playthroughs, I’m most certainly coming back when I find myself with some precious free time, slamming down some different drinks and picking new decisions just to see how things will play out in my newly-created alternate timeline.
On their own, none of these elements are going to win awards and are all done better elsewhere, but as a package they form something exciting — much like the Star Wars films.
Moon Studios has built upon its own great work to delver a fantastic sequel.
Definitely a game that needs to be experienced rather than described
Persona 5 — and the expanded Persona 5 Royal — are both beautiful balancing acts; ones that feel eternally stressful unless you give in and enjoy them rather than aiming for the perfect run.
I can’t emphasise how much fun Doom Eternal is to play and that’s what really counts.
While it’s great on your own, I’d imagine that those that can play the likes of Overcooked with loved one without wanting to murder them will be right at home.
If you enjoy board games, card games or dice games and own a Nintendo Switch, this one’s really a no-brainer.
