FNintendo's Reviews

Quest of Dungeons may not be a groundbreaking game or an instant classic but it does its job: it's a fun dungeon crawler, with good skills and combat systems and a visual style which will fit perfectly with the nostalgic crowd.

It's good to see that Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, while far from the higher thresholds of the classic Sonic games that built the character, improves on its predecessor and presents a very decent gameplay and good ol' high speed action on its levels. It doesn't go all the way with it, though, as its lacklustre visual presentation demonstrates, not to mention the lack of alternative paths but this new chapter is closer to what is expected from a game bearing the name of Sonic.

7 / 10 - BOXBOXBOY!
Sep 23, 2016

While we'd argue that previous fans will get the most out of this sequel in the long run, it's a perfectly manageable entry point for newcomers if the tight mechanics and bite-sized chunks of puzzling goodness are starting to sound pretty good this time around.

Blasting Agent makes sense in its original format and environment but when converting it to the Wii U, the result is too problematic - not just due to its technical issues and unstable framerate but especially due to incoherent level design and the overall feeling that this conversion adds nothing to what already existed.

7 / 10 - Dual Core
Sep 20, 2016

Dual Core is a competent arcade-style shooter that comes out on top when played on a local co-op. It misses out on the solo experience, as its one-player mode is far less fun and compelling than with two, three or four players, which only makes the lack of an online multiplayer mode more difficult to understand. Be as it may, Dual Core will certainly be a good choice for anyone eager for some fun and intense multiplayer shooting experience.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force could have been a whole new entry in the Metroid Prime series but unfortunately its fine control system and variety of game modes (including online multiplayer) are not enough to save it from the overall lack of interest of its missions, lacklustre bosses (for the Metroid series, at least) and simply unfitting art style and visual environment.

Dragon Quest VII is a compelling, detailed and enriching work that is going to envelop players in its adventures and lure them to its passionate narrative. Throughout its worlds, Dragon Quest VII puts the player at the center of a beautifully-crafted story that stands out among other games of its time...and of all times as well. A truly unmissable opus which will only marvel anyone who puts their hands on it.

7 / 10 - Psycho Pigs
Sep 10, 2016

Psycho Pigs is back and this remake certainly honours the original with its simple and very fun concept, its humour in all levels and overall loyalty to a game from nearly thirty years ago.

7 / 10 - Terraria
Sep 6, 2016

It doesn't fully live up to its potential due to repetitive gameplay mechanics and to its often maladjusted control system and interface, which together with the lack of a proper plot and tutorials will only contribute to make it less appealing to many players.

2 / 10 - Hot Rod Racer
Aug 31, 2016

Hot Rod Racer has no personality and its gameplay mechanics are simply frustrating and not fun. There are few objectives, its tracks don't motivate the player to go forward and the vehicle's hitbox makes everything more difficult. A clear case of a game designed for the mobile segment which has no place elsewhere, no matter how low its selling price is.

5 / 10 - Mighty No. 9
Aug 25, 2016

Mighty No. 9 created very high expectations and could have reached a perfect formula for success but as it is, it failed to capture Mega Man's essence and doesn't build up on what its inspiration did best.

Journey to Kreisia is an RPG whose formula has been repeated over and over, which does not necessarily mean it should be shunned.

Aug 18, 2016

Infinite Dunamis is a competent, if low-budget and unambitious RPG designed in the style of its 16-bit ancestors. What it lacks for in originality of the plot, characters and style it makes up in terms of an interesting and involving combat system.

7 / 10 - Ziggurat
Aug 16, 2016

Being a short and intense game, Ziggurat gives many incentives to be played again and again and only suffers from some technical flaws in its Wii U incarnation which nevertheless don't stand in the way of an addictive game.

6 / 10 - Lovely Planet
Aug 13, 2016

Lovely Planet is certainly one of the least conventional titles to don the mechanics of a first person shooter. Its simple and clean visuals go completely against the genre's standards whereas the quick and easy way to bring the player to the game shrugs off any concerns about plot or narrative. A game made for quick, intense gaming sessions that can get too saturating if played with a different mindset.

Adventure Labyrinth Story is a competent dungeon crawler with a simple combat system and a healthy variety of enemies. However its overtly simple narrative, linear goals and overall subpar visual environments make this a game that doesn't stand out among its peers, even if it's competent enough when putting the player in randomly generated mazes.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 brings back point-n-click adventures to the Wii U in a game that offers well-written dialogues and plenty of humorous situations in the background of a visually rich and polished environment. Despite the lack of interaction through the GamePad, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a game that will certainly please fans of the genre, after the dearth of point-n-click titles over recent years.

Ninja Smasher intends to bring back the spirit of 8-bit platformers and it certainly mastered its conventions: the plot is minimal as the player sets off through a maze-like map, with a difficulty curve that is very well adjusted to the player's own development as more items and techniques become available.

Jul 29, 2016

Shutshimi is a simple and very addictive fast-pace shoot'em up that presents itself in an old school-style and which will strike a chord with enthusiasts of intense scrolling shoot'em ups. So intense, in fact, that its experiences become too short-lived and its lifespan quickly falls behind when played solo, rather than on multiplayer.

Unholy Heights' unusual background, coupled with its addictive dynamics and comical details, provides the basis for a game that will be difficult to let go of once the player is emerged into it.
