When I received this game for review, I had this marvelous exchange with my wife about it! Ceidz: “Hey I received a new game for review!” Wife: “Really? What kind of game is it?” Ceidz: “How can I put this….? (thinking) Well, you're a potato…. and you're running this weapon shop…” Wife: “LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL”

8 / 10 - Mothergunship
Sep 6, 2018

Having said that, I still recommend that you play MOTHERGUNSHIP on PlayStation 4. The build-your-own-guns gameplay mechanic is fun, and it forces you to think a bit outside the box as you balance how you use the parts you purchase with those you're sometimes forced to use for a mission to create something that is useful and not too powerful to use for a long period of time

If you're looking for a casual style fighter, this one should fit your needs. There's some room for deeper strategies with how the blocking is set up, but if you're more of a fan of double cancels mid-frame during a special move to input a super that drains all of your super bars, then you might want to pass on this one, especially if you're not in the mood to take on the fan service it offers.

Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition is a solid release that fans of the roguelike genre will greatly enjoy. There is a lot to do, and the randomly generated nature of each run means you will get to aim for new objectives, as well as try to stay safe from new hazards and… things. The fact that the Zubmariner expansion is included means you're also going to face new enemies, find new ports, new treasure and more, which makes it even easier to recommend this gorgeous looking and challenging roguelike on PS4.

If you are a fan of the first game, then Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 is right up your alley. This sequel improves on the formula, keeps the hectic action going from start to finish, and it features a nice story and a gorgeous art style that will make you feel as if you were playing an animated story. Once you get how the game controls, you will be shooting zombies dead in no time. Hopefully the game does well since I'd definitely be interested in a third Guns, Gore and Cannoli game, perhaps one in which the team adds a skill tree to spice things up!

Overall, TerraTech is a fun sandbox game that will get your creative juices flowing as you build new stuff to take on the game's Campaign Mode before you dive into the multiplayer side of things. With more stuff to come from the development team at a later date, you should get a head-start and play TerraTech today so that you're ready!

8 / 10 - Shenmue 1 & 2
Sep 2, 2018

Shenmue I & II is a great way to revisit gaming history from the past. The games were so far ahead of what was in the industry at the time focusing on a fully open world and finding ways to integrate you into it. I have heard from several game designers in interviews about how this game made them want to design games and infomred how there current products are being created. The voice work sounds dated and the contorls even with modern upgrades still don't feel great either, but this is a second chance to play gaming history. Don't miss out on it and get caught up before the Trilogy ends next year with Shenmue III.

9 / 10 - Dead Cells
Aug 31, 2018

All in all, if you're into Metroidvania or roguelite games (or RogueVania as the developers call it!), you're in for an incredible time with Dead Cells. It's a fast-paced, fun and challenging game that you'll get sunk in for dozens of hours without even realizing it. Motion Twin have created a gem with this game – truly a must-play title and easily one of the best games this year.

9 / 10 - The Messenger
Aug 31, 2018

The Messenger is an excellent indie release that has found a good home on the Nintendo Switch. I spent half of my time with the game playing on the TV and the other half while in Portable mode, and the game looked just as great and was just as fun in both scenarios. A short game this is not, since you're looking at 20+ hours to 100% this release between the first part of The Messenger, the jump to 16-bits and the Metroidvania twist. You'll meet former foes who have turned a new leaf and old enemies with a new look as you try to defeat the greater evil behind all of this before it is too late, and you're going to have a blast doing so.

8 / 10 - Semblance
Aug 30, 2018

Semblance is a different type of puzzle/platformer that brings something new to the table. I had a lot of fun playing the game on Nintendo Switch on my TV and on the console's screen, finding the right way to bend platforms to do my will as I grabbed all spheres in my path. The game can be completed in around four hours or so, but your mileage may vary depending on your experience with games in the genre.

This is all I will discuss about the story of this final episode since it's one you have to experience for yourself. As I mentioned before I took John Doe down the vigilante path for this Joker persona, but you might perhaps have led him down his villain path, and that is the Joker you will run into for the season finale. Because of this, Telltale Games worked hard on the final episode to give us over three and a half hours of unique content between both possible versions of Same Stich, making this a very beefy way to end the second season of their very interesting take on the Batman mythos. I had a lot of fun playing all of Batman: The Enemy Within, and I look forward to seeing what Telltale Games does next with Batman or with the DC universe.

Immortal Redneck is a very fun roguelite first-person shooter on Nintendo Switch that you should check out. It's very entertaining, has a lot of content for you to enjoy this procedurally generated release. The game is very addictive, and every time you die you are left with that “just one more run” feeling that is always very fun. During my time playing the game for this review, one night I thought I had played the game for around 30 minutes or so, but when I checked my watch, I realized it was 1:30 a.m. It turns out I had been playing for a couple of hours non-stop!

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a great retelling of Yakuza 2 with a new coat of paint, new content, rebalanced gameplay, more mini-games, more sidequest… more everything! If you're a fan of the Yakuza series then you probably pre-ordered this game and are ready to take it for a spin, but if you still haven't played a game in this franchise, then you should definitely check this remake sequel thing. Even better, start with Yakuza 0 and work your way up to Yakuza 6, one game at a time, so that you're ready for when the PlayStation 3 trilogy is on PS4. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an excellent PlayStation 4 game and a must-have release.

Wild Guns was a lot of fun when I played it back in the day, and it definitely help the last time I took it for a spin on PlayStation 4, which makes it very easy for me to recommend the game on the Nintendo Switch, being able to play at home or on the go as you enjoy the new characters, stages and weapons, as well as having two extra modes for this version that add a little something extra on top of everything else make this one a must-have for both those of you that got to play the original release on the SNES and those who are coming into this one without any previous experience.

7 / 10 - Fall of Light
Aug 27, 2018

It's hard to tackle a genre that is defined by the series that created it, especially as a really small studio. Even though there were a couple of issues here and there, RuneHeads still managed to give us a solid effort in the genre. It might not be the type of game for everyone, but fans of the genre should be able to get a good time with this one.

It's nice to see a studio try to tackle genres with hugely successful games such as XCOM while doing their own thing. I don't think CreativeForge have made a good effort with Phantom Doctrine , but they do fall short from being able to make a run at taking the crown from the big boys. I'm sure the study will take what they've learned from this project and improve on things for either a sequel or a new take on the genre.

Hero Defense is a fun and challenging tower defense game with some nice twists and gameplay mechanics that will keep you entertained from start to finish. 8 / 10 - Miles & Kilo

If you're looking for a fun, colorful and challenging minimalist platformer, then you should check out Miles & Kilo. The option to play it as a platformer instead of as an auto-runner right from the start is a welcome addition, but if you're a big fan of the auto-runner genre, then you can also go into the options menu and trigger that choice!
