The charming graphics, coupled with the fantastic voice work and intriguing narrative on their own all definitely warrant giving this game a play through, especially for the price of $9.99 USD on Steam.
In my opinion, the game culminates into an expert combination of storytelling, survival, and community management, leaving me quite satisfied with the result. True, there are a lot of survival games out there, and aside from obvious clones, each is trying to find their niche to hopefully push their game, their story, into something more than the standard fare. For me, though not perfect, this game hits that goal. Well done, THQ Nordic.
The simple control system makes Duck Game instantly accessible for almost all players and makes challenging your nearest and dearest a simple pick up and play experience. The odd aesthetic, menagerie of weapons, and charming soundtrack all add to Duck Game's attraction. If you are looking for a fun party game Duck Game fits the bill! Duck Game is out now on Nintendo Switch. You can find out more about it at the official Duck Game Website.
Masquerada starts out with promise. The art is bright and unique and the lore and battle system give off an aura of depth. There's just not a lot behind that first look. The beautifully-drawn courtyards and dungeons are linear and restrictive. The lore is densely written, but digging in reveals a lack of soul and meaningful drama. The battle system is an intricately carved hammer: it might look like it has a lot going on, but it really just pounds shit. Masquerada, behind the glamour of its mask, just pounds shit.
Shakedown Hawaii one-ups Retro City Rampage in almost every way, and is most certainly a must-play on the Nintendo Switch. Heck, it's a must-play on every system, because Vblank made sure to put it on just about everything. If you like things that are fun, you're not going to have much bad to say about this one. It would have been nice to pick from a man or a woman main character, but that's about the largest complaint I can levy. Go get this game.
As a VR experience, it definitely did its job of making me feel like I was in a different place, but it did not really convince me that I was taking care of another living thing. Considering the game claims that it’s “the first virtual cat that feels like a real one,” it ultimately fell a bit short here.
Overall, this is a game that is a high-quality remake based on the Japanese Yakuza. It is entirely in Japanese with English subtitles, and for this type of game that is fine. It makes it feel more authentic to the area we are playing in. The game comes in at $29.99USD on steam and launched today. This is a very good port to PC, and I have been pretty happy with it so far.
There's a lot to unpack in S:EE. It's head crushingly deep, and those of us who enjoy the fast-paced roguelike stealth 'em up will find a boat load to love about it. Under the clunky UI and questionable progression choices there is a gem of a game that will offer dozens of hours of exploration, questing and a story in a world that'll have you dreaming of electric sheep all night long.
Shadowgate for the Nintendo Switch is a wonderful rendition of the 8-bit NES version that is near and dear to many of our hearts. This rendition isn't merely a direct port but a re-imagining that still holds true to the classic Shadowgate formula. While the user interface is a bit cumbersome at first, patience and a little time spent in the game will make that an afterthought. For the modest price of $19.99, you can take this classic adventure game on the road. Shadowgate is perhaps one of the earliest point-and-click adventure games conceived and with this modernized version it gets to renew its crown!
Overall The Ace Attorney Trilogy is a welcome addition to anyone who likes point and click games or mystery solvers. Its anime influence is heavy but looks great.
Weedcraft is unlike any strategy game I’ve had the pleasure to play. It definitely gets a high score despite the mediocre soundtrack and farming mechanics that can prove tiresome in the long run.
Supraland is a wonderful indie title that shows that a developer really can achieve anything with the right idea and creativity.
Overall, the game is a fast-paced team shooter, and it will take everyone working together to make it out alive. This game is very much like Left for Dead in its levels and gameplay mechanics. The game is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC for a price of $34.99 USD. For this game, I would say throw down the money and come enjoy the world that was brought to us in the movie. You won't see Brad Pitt in the game, but you will have one heck of a time either way.
All in all, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a very good, if short, game.
If you enjoy fantasy with a great story, then the choice is easy.
Dangerous Driving is a fun-filled, reckless racing game that should satiate fans that hunger for more of racing classics like the Burnout series. There's also a home here for non-racing game players as well since being reckless in Dangerous Driving is not held against you! Being dangerous behind a wheel has never been so much fun!
Mortal Kombat 11 is a fantastic game with rich yet accessible combat and a great story. It's also mired in grind and randomness in the post-game and causes concerns about real money transactions.
Back To Bed is a unique, fun puzzle game with some minor platforming thrown into the mix. It's another great indie puzzle game for the Switch that plays well on the go.
The problem lies in the gulf between a good game with unbelievable art, and a work of art. Cuphead gets so close to being more than a cool-looking game, but the gameplay and art style don't merge in any meaningful way. It's still worth playing, and it's still the best-looking exercise in humility and frustration that you can find on the market today.
With a deceptively linear quest and extremely accessible challenges, it is unsurprising that Hob: Definitive Edition, like RiME, is not the most cerebral challenge. It is, instead, a gorgeous journey that dutifully sweeps you away into another world.
