IGN Italy's Reviews

A new and intriguing action RPG that doesn's stray far away from The Witcher III's template, but delivers an engaging narrative experience full of memorable characters in a fascinating setting.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks a fascinating yet overly conservative return for Capcom's iconic franchise, starring the legendary Miyamoto Musashi. While boasting stunning cinematic direction, top-tier voice acting, and rock-solid technical performance on PS5, the game is held back by a passive AI, an overly permissive difficulty curve, and a combat system that pulls its punches. It's a solid, beautiful foundation for a series revival, though it ultimately lacks the necessary bite to truly master its craft.

The first "Star Wars X-COM" is also one of the best Star Wars games in recent years. Highly suggested to those who look for a fair challenge.

A visually stunning and emotionally intense action-adventure, held back by shallow combat, linear exploration and repetitive stealth.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is another masterpiece from Arc System Works. The Japanese developers, who specialize in fighting games, have created a title brimming with love for the Marvel universe, featuring meticulous attention to detail in the design of each hero and an incredibly layered combat system that adapts to any type of player-from beginners to experts, as well as those who prefer to fight with a single character or manage an entire team.

8 / 10.0 - Mortal Shell II
Aug 17, 2026

A top-notch Soulslike—fun, satisfying, and full of good ideas—held back by a few shortcomings and, for the moment, various technical and balancing issues.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Sinking City 2
Aug 17, 2026

A honorable attempt at survival horror. The Sinking City 2 offers an imperfect - albeit satisfying - voyage into the horrors of a sunken city infested by eldritch horrors.

The Relic: First Guardian is a work of violent contrasts, a crossroads where an almost moving authorial passion collides head-on with undeniable production and technical limitations.

A smart remake that modernizes a classic without losing its identity. Despite a few inherited flaws, Halo: Campaign Evolved remains one of the most enjoyable and engaging FPS games in recent years.

8 / 10.0 - Splatoon Raiders

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu starts with an intriguing Lovecraftian premise and a solid monster design, but it quickly collapses under the weight of severe technical flaws and frustrating design choices. Between a clunky combat system plagued by bugs, an unnecessarily restrictive inventory, and severe balancing issues that heavily penalize solo players, the game entirely squanders its potential. Instead of an engaging descent into cosmic madness, the experience becomes a tedious and agonizing test of patience.

Thirteen years later, Black Flag still proves what was already clear back in 2013: it's a far better pirate adventure than it is a traditional Assassin's Creed, and that's arguably its greatest strength. Resynced improves almost every aspect of the original, adds a fair amount of new content, and makes exploring the Caribbean more immersive than ever. Technical issues and a handful of questionable design decisions keep it from reaching true greatness, but it's still an solid remake and one of Ubisoft's strongest releases in recent years, delivering dozens of engaging hours on the high seas.

Beehive Studios has created a monster-collecting game that, while clearly inspired by Pokémon, manages to forge its own identity thanks to an excellent combat system, a more mature narrative, and a well-developed game world. Despite a few flaws likely due to the team's inexperience, LumenTale: Memories of Trey is an engaging title and offers a solid alternative for anyone looking for something different from Game Freak's games.

8 / 10.0 - Star Fox
Jun 24, 2026

The new Star Fox offers a remake of the Nintendo 64 classic that is excellent in every respect, from graphics to gameplay, and has been tweaked just enough to preserve the original's arcade spirit. The addition of online multiplayer mode and the new CGI cutscenes are also excellent.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales draws inspiration from the classic Zelda games and reimagines their formula in a compelling way. Dungeons, exploration, and combat are the game's strongest points. It's a shame, though, that the game reuses settings and enemies, which prevents it from fully realizing its potential.
