Ruiner is terrific. The story is a bit of a misfire and the characters are difficult to engage with, but the solid gameplay, the terrific visuals and the cracking soundtrack should get you through. The difficulty levels are overwhelming – at least for me – but it doesn't take away from the fact Ruiner is just a great game.
Herocade is a terrible mess of a game collection that you should avoid. Don't be tempted by the 9 games and the cheap price tag. It's cheap for a reason.
The game's website claims that Energy Hook is "a coherent vision that focuses on its visceral core gameplay with no extra fluff like combat or cut scenes". Unfortunately, that extra fluff is exactly what the game is missing.
I'm struggling to find something I really didn't enjoy about Golf Story. It feels fantastic on my Switch and is the kind of game I could play for hours on a train journey (battery withstanding). I'm delighted it's as good as I was hoping it would be, it's probably exceeded my expectations.
Binaries is definitely a nice addition to the ever-bulging collection of indie games appearing on the Switch. If you are up for a challenge then this is defiantly the game for you, expect lots and lots of death and don't play with anything breakable in the immediate vicinity.
By transplanting the same mechanics and theme from the original Firefighters – The Simulator into a setting that's devoid of any life or fun, VIS Games have managed what I thought was impossible by creating a follow-up that is worse than the original. Firefighters: Airport Fire Department is a disaster and is certainly a contender for the worst game on PS4.
Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within continues with a fantastic second episode that's full of surprises and gets back to basics.
Pankapu can sit proudly among the greats of the Switch line-up. The FingerGuns review;
Veteran writer Bob Bates is back with the charming text adventure Thaumistry: In Charm's Way that harks back to the good ol' days.
Other than causing a few headaches here and there, it does its job in providing a fun past time enough to challenge your fingers at the keys.
Despite all the innovation and good looks, the core gameplay is too restrictive and dull and you feel that Ultra Ultra had run out of ideas and made certain sections just too long just to pad the game out. There is potential here, it's just been poorly executed, but I do look forward to what Ultra Ultra do next.
36 Fragments of Midnight proves that procedural generation doesn't necessarily benefit some games.
Fragments of Him tells a powerful story of love and loss but suffers from limited interactivity and repetition.
Son of Scoregasm improves upon the original with an innovative risk vs. reward system that's perfect for short bursts of portable play.
Don't be swayed by its colourful appearance, Putty Pals has been put on this earth to hurt you. The FingerGuns Review;
Rogue Trooper Redux is showing its age but this Trooper certainly deserves a second tour of duty. The FingerGuns Review;
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was surprised when Bethesda announced a sequel to the so-so Evil Within. But announce they did and here we have The Evil Within 2. Can it fix the flaws of the first? The FingerGuns review;
Rugby 18 is as painful to play as a Chris Robshaw blindside tackle.
Wheels of Auerlia has potential but squanders its opportunities to say something.
Farming Simulator on the Switch is exactly what it says on the tin. Nothing more, nothing less.
