7 / 10 - LEGO 2K Drive
May 29, 2023

A shift in focus and a lack of content stop this racer from coming in first place, but as a fun and chaotic arcade racer, LEGO 2K Drive does a lot of things really well.

5 / 10 - After Us
May 26, 2023

For better and worse, After Us is yet another beautiful but otherwise boring and overly artistic game that does very little to advance the medium.

When you break it down, Respawn has delivered another great Star Wars game with a story that has surprising depth to it. Unfortunately, graphical and stability issues plagued its launch with some still existing despite a few post-launch patches.

Even though Minecraft Legends isn't a bad game, the fact that it's in direct competition with its much better predecessor makes the title hard to recommend. ‍

It might look as low budget as the 60s show that inspired it and the humour rarely rises above a smirk, but HRO's interesting characters and plotlines add depth and replayability.

7 / 10 - Paws of Coal

Paws of Coal is a generally enjoyable and well-told tale, if not especially inventive.

5 / 10 - Redfall
May 9, 2023

Redfall, with its mediocre gameplay, forgettable story and generic visuals, comes closer to destroying Arkane's legacy than it does to being a properly enjoyable video game.

Burning Shores is an excellent expansion; one that builds on the foundations laid by Forbidden West with a heavy focus on story that anchors its, gameplay, and world-building. It may falter at points, but is still a must-play piece of the Horizon story.‍

Lightracer Spark's premise is interesting, but its banal story and frustrating gameplay makes the experience feel like just another mediocre Civilization clone.

How do you remake a classic? Like this. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a superb action horror game that lovingly recreates and updates the original for modern audiences - and it should be on every gaming fan's shelf.

There's not much below the surface of Planet Cube: Edge should you find its difficulty infuriating. The intense difficulty feels like a shallow way to extend your playtime but if you're like me, you'll find yourself reluctant to keep trying once you've died in the same spot for the twentieth time.‍

Despite its shoddy performance, The Last of Us Part I on PC is still one of the best games to ever grace Steam's virtual shelves.

7 / 10 - The Wreck
Mar 27, 2023

The Wreck is an ambitious game with a twisting web of narrative that, despite a few frustrating gameplay moments, admittedly brought me close to tears by the end. Regardless of any technical issues, a good story about mothers, daughters, and the wrecks our relationships leave behind is always one worth experiencing.

Contraband Police isn't as morally grey or engaging as Papers, Please, but its defined gameplay loop evolves the bureaucracy simulator genre into something that's worth playing. ‍

A tough game that's sometimes a little too harsh for its own good, but if you're up for the challenge, there's a wonderfully touching gaming experience to be had here.

Dead Space (2023) is a remake done right. Whilst there's nothing wrong with giving a classic game a lick of paint, EA Motive went a step further and Dead Space is the richer for it.

If you have the patience to get through the first ten or so hours and tackle the multitude of systems it throws at you, Persona 4 Golden will reward you with a richly enjoyable JRPG experience, though the misogyny and homophobic content have really not aged it well.

Season's artstyle and gameplay are unique and fun, but because of its forgettable narrative and generic premise, it feels like yet another game that exists solely to win awards from Geoff Keighley.

With its unique take on naval combat and plundering-focused narrative, Tortuga - A Pirate's Tale isn't the greatest simulation of a swashbuckler's life, but it tries hard and is worth playing for anyone who wants to give their sea legs a solid workout.
