Diplomacy is Not an Option does have a great foundation for an RTS, and there is a lot of potential and room for future improvement. Door 407 has yet to implement a lasting hook to entice ongoing gameplay. With its promising RTS mechanics, it has the potential to evolve into a captivating game. However, at its current stage, the game’s campaign mode has a mediocre storyline.
If you are looking for the live 2000s aesthetic and cannot find a single copy of these games near you, then the Castlevania Dominus Collection is absolutely worth it. Konami did a great job on the anniversary collection, and there is no doubt they were able to show it once again with the Castlevania Dominus Collection.
Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is a classic visual novel that hooks you right in from the beginning and comes from a very unlikely developer. Despite this, the game fits on the Nintendo Switch. With the modernized art, better pacing, more engaging characters, and fully voiced dialogue, Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is easily the best entry in the series.
Star Wars Outlaws does have its strengths, though—the worlds in this game can sing. You can feel like there is life that is living and breathing in the world—the snowfall of Kijimi, the rain of Akiva; there are strong environments at times that made me feel like I was in the Star Wars universe. It's a game that made big promises, but unfortunately, it is one of the many AAA games that failed to deliver on them. The restrictive gameplay, subpar story, and uncanny valley facial animations make the game hard to recommend at full price.
Madden NFL 25 can officially claim the crown as the most authentic Madden game of all time. It's like EA Orlando has taken the already incredible gameplay, visuals, animations, and more of last year's game placed them on the surgery table and given them a major facelift. However, despite some of the impressive additions that were made regarding the content, you might get the impression that having much more would've sufficed. Nonetheless, Madden NFL 25 is definitely a must-have.
Mika and the Witch's Mountain presents a story of an apprentice witch who goes through ups and downs with small townsfolk. The gameplay is nice, the graphics fit the theme well, and the characters are likable. If you are looking for a laid-back game with the vibes of summer, witches, drama, and progression, Mika and the Witch's Mountain is completely for you.
The story of Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit is self-contained; if you are an avid FNAF theorist, there is plenty to find in the game, but the simple story told is great and fulfilling without a huge breadth of wider knowledge. The gameplay facilitates this story perfectly; the tension is built as the nights get harder, and the chilling atmosphere is great. There is a lot of backtracking, as is the case with many horror games, although this is an opportunity for more scares, so it is a pro or con based on preference alone.
Concord is a decent 5v5 hero shooter but does not offer enough to stand out from the mature competition. This game really needed some sort of hype, X-factor, for it to even catch the eyes of gamers. The aesthetic is impressive, but the character designs are nothing to write home about. The gunplay has some potential, but the move speed is too slow, and you simply have too much HP. I don't have high hopes for this game's longevity.
Farewell North is a stunning video game that you should play. While I was writing this review, fixes were still going out, so I hope your experience is less rocky than mine, should you choose to play. As someone who mourns the loss of her dog, I could relate to the heart-breaking tale. Farewell North is not the game for you if you are looking for a puzzle adventure game that puts more emphasis on gameplay than it does on the narrative.
FromSoftware cooked up one of the best combat systems with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and never did anything like it again. That may be a good thing, as it makes this game one of a kind. If you are a fan of Souls games or a borderline masochist, you will, without a doubt, love Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice because it is a masterpiece. It is a must-play for all hardcore gamers.
Black Myth: Wukong is a fantastic game and lives up to its hype. It's an exciting but challenging journey with a distinct setting and approach. Souls enthusiasts might dislike the combat but will undoubtedly love the challenge. It may seem overwhelming initially to those unfamiliar with action RPGs, but the game's difficulty isn't overly demanding after you get beyond a few boss encounters. If you enjoy restless action and boss encounters, Black Myth: Wukong is the game you should definitely try.
Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse is a must-play remaster if you like the original trilogy. Between the overhauled and heavily upgraded visuals, there’s already enough to get anybody hooked on the chaotic due’s antics, but you’ll likely find yourself staying for the music, too. It’s refreshing to see that Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse got several major QOL improvements, too, for the sake of modernizing the gameplay while maintaining the original nostalgia. So, if you’re a fan of the old trilogy or new, you’re in for a treat with this one.
If you're a fan of roguelike deckbuilding games and enjoy a challenge, Knock on the Coffin Lid offers plenty of depth and replayability. Just be prepared for some rough edges. You might want to temper your expectations if you value narrative depth as much as gameplay. The game shines brightest when you're fully engaged in its strategic combat and experimentation, but it's not without its frustrations. Ultimately, it's a game worth playing if you're willing to push through the challenges and have a bit of patience.
Whatever Crytek had in mind for Hunt: Showdown 1896, they definitely got a bullseye on the target because the game delivers everything it promised, and then there are some more with brass knuckles and no punches held! If you want a gruesome game to spike your dopamine and adrenaline in a way only a few games can, grab Hunt: Showdown 1896. Pick your hunter, choose your loadout, and get to some rootin' tootin' cowboy shootin' 'cause this one's a silver bullet in the darkness of the genre.
White Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies will definitely answer all the questions left behind by its predecessor while giving you a good scare when you least expect it. Aside from a slow start in the first episode, there’s never a dull moment as you explore the hallways of Yeondu High, and there’s always trouble around the corner. If you can look past the minor visual flaws, you’re in for a hell of a time with the adventure that awaits.
I know this title has been a barebones explanation of what Trackmania did for many years, but with a different coat of paint and theming of the 2000s with an excellent soundtrack and visuals, Phantom Spark is absolutely worth the spin. It is a fantastic game with exceptional presentation, optimization, controls, physics, and worthy challenges to force yourself to keep improving. It feels refreshing as you grasp the controller to beat your best time on every try, just as the first time you booted in, which is rare for any racing game in the market.
STAR WARS: Bounty Hunter is a good attempt at a remaster but it doesn’t quite make the cut, and this is simply due to its age. A better option would have been to explore the remake route instead to spark a revival of a very old fandom, sadly, we can only hope for things like these. Luckily, most of the original gameplay is still somewhat the same but it might end up being frustrating if you’re new to the older releases from this franchise.
CYGNI: All Guns Blazing followed the shoot 'em up genre's traditional standards and absolutely nailed it. It creates a fantastic gameplay cycle that demonstrates how less is frequently more, staying true to the simplicity of vintage arcade shooters and bringing back all the feelings we had for these games.
The Hungry Lamb: Traveling in the Late Ming Dynasty had me in a daze upon finishing the game, but with the ending I have reached, I cannot complain. Sure, when I think back to this game, the first thing that presents itself in my brain is the memory of how uncomfortable I felt, but underneath all that, I believe that the mystery and horror elements that exist everywhere else in the game made this an experience I will not regret.
Creatures of Ava will, without a doubt, go above and beyond to get you hooked on its story and visuals, but it’ll just keep adding on as you explore and see more of Ava. Between the already stunning visuals and inspired music, it’s already set up to be amazing, but it keeps getting better as you progress.
