Critic Reviews for Farewell North
Farewell North is a sweet-natured look at companionship and loss through the eyes of a very good boy.
I've never been as emotionally affected by a video game as I was by Farewell North. It's a gorgeous bit of storytelling, flanked by music and art that is just as beautiful. You can see its emotional gut-punch coming, but good luck avoiding it.
Farewell North is a beautiful game in every way, exploring a rich and emotional story that draws you deep into the lives of its characters, woven throughout a stunning recreation of some of Scotland's most incredible natural scenery.
The emotional journey that Farewell North presents will likely be a difficult one for many to tackle; the loss of a parent. It handles the subject material eloquently and delicately, offering a tale of companionship between a dog and a human that is the foundation for a heartfelt adventure. Visually stunning and a feast for the ears, this humble story about grief is the most impactful video game experience I've had this year and one of the most enthralling I've ever had the delight of playing. I'll never get over the loss of my Mum. But Farewell North gave me some much-needed catharsis. It just might do the same for you.
Farewell North is an emotional game about the difficult goodbye to something that's been with you for your entire life and how you keep it with you even after it's gone. If you have lost a family member, pet, or are homesick, Farewell North is sure to resonate with you.
Farewell North is a heartwarming game that shows, in a literal sense, how a beloved pet can bring the light back in our darkest moments.
Farewell North is a stunning video game that you should play. While I was writing this review, fixes were still going out, so I hope your experience is less rocky than mine, should you choose to play. As someone who mourns the loss of her dog, I could relate to the heart-breaking tale. Farewell North is not the game for you if you are looking for a puzzle adventure game that puts more emphasis on gameplay than it does on the narrative.
