Martha Is Dead launched on 24th February 2022 under the publicity of certain scenes being censored from the PlayStation version of the game. We already knew that this title would address potentially upsetting topics such as psychological trauma and scenes of self-harm and mutilation, now the door had been opened for speculation about whether there would be some particularly gruesome content in store for players. In this Rapid Review, I share my thoughts on the uncensored PC version of the game.

SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash is a card fighting game like Hearthstone or Plants Vs. Zombies Heroes. Though it takes inspiration from these titles, instead of focusing on multiplayer elements, SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters’ Clash features a story campaign like traditional Pokémon games. Do the gym fights pair well with the card battling? Find out in this Rapid Review.

The genesis of Rainbow Six Extraction started back in 2018. Ubisoft had introduced a limited-time event to their squad-based shooter, Rainbow Six Seige. This game mode, titled ‘Outbreak‘, tasked a cooperative team to take out a wave of aliens, rather than terrorists. With the event being well-received, Ubisoft has developed the formula into a standalone title.

Ah, the 1980s. An era where computers slowly began impacting our lives. Familiar household names such as Apple and Microsoft slowly made their entrance, and mobile phones became a common item. This was the decade bringing an end to the Cold War, and the delightful game everyone loves, Pacman was released.

Memories are such important aspects of our lives, both the good and bad. From cherished times with loved ones, hardships, to periods where we persevered and succeeded. These all help to mould and define us as individuals, as well as shape our actions going forward. To lose all of that is a distressing thought. Reminiscence in the Night confronts this very topic.

Like many others, gaming is the perfect form of escapism for me. Somewhere you can go to forget about real life and fully immerse yourself in a new world. But, it’s not all the time you want to be shooting bad guys, solving mind-bending puzzles or following an emotional narrative. Sometimes, you want something wholesome, and what could be more wholesome than a rabbit running its own greenhouse?

Alveole is described as an experimental project that elevates one mechanic to the fullest. After reading the summary, I still had no idea what the game would entail, but watching the trailer, it looked like a puzzle game. After exploring the mechanics, I found that the title focuses on the mundanity of being inside a hamster wheel while showing prior moments in the character’s life. Did it make for a good project? I have loved every Drinkbox Studios game I have played. I loved the uncanny Mutant Blobs Attack, the Guacamelee series is one of my favourite Metroidvania’s ever created and Severed was so brilliantly unique on the PlayStation Vita. Their art style is unique, their gameplay rewarding but most of all, everything Drinkbox Studios make, is fun and let’s face it, that is why we are all here.

The survival horror genre has seen a bit of a revival over the last couple of years. The success of both Resident Evil 7 and the “REmake” of Resident Evil 2 have highlighted that gamers want the more claustrophobic horrors of the past, rather than a blockbuster schlock-filled epic. One title that aims to put the traditional survival horror aspect back on the map is Heaven Dust 2.

Much like the plethora of faded 80’s/90’s popstars, Skyrim also doesn’t know when to quit. Over the years Bethesda’s open-world RPG has made its presence known on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. Not content with letting sleeping Dragons lie – and to celebrate the title’s 10-year anniversary – Skyrim (re-branded as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition) is now available on Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5!

Over the last few years the rogue genre (and its many offshoots) has seen a mass influx of titles. From heavy-hitters such as Hades and The Binding of Issac, to an abundance of lesser known indie titles, there’s been no better time to be a rogue-like-lite fan. One such game that’s attempting its own spin on the formula is Vagante.

The Company Man is an action-platformer that takes boss fights to a more literal standpoint. Instead of fighting terrifying monsters or evil enemies, I fought my way through the corporate ladder. Was this game a refreshing break from the typical escapades of an adventurer? Or was it just another day in the nine to five? Find out in this Rapid Review.

Will injury-ridden defending champions Wales and new Captain Dan Biggar keep their crown with the Six Nations kicking off today? Or will favourites France storm through under the tutelage of Fabien Galthié? I’m excited to see how Scotland fair in their opening against England for the Calcutta Cup. Something about that team could spell magic this year!
