Another Ratalaika game, another short romp to a platinum trophy. I have played many Ratalaika games over the years and at one point bought loads of them for easy to grab platinum trophies. I have since stopped that but don’t mind reviewing one now and again. Their quality is very variable, let’s see where Prehistoric Dude on the PS4 sits in the Ratalaika quality spectrum, shall we? So, Prehistoric Dude, which is a very uninspired title by the way, is about, well, a Prehistoric Dude. What has the world come to when you can’t even have a meal eating your favourite food in peace? Your massive piece of ham has been stolen and that is basically the plot here. Your job is to track down the large dinosaur-shaped fiend who stole your dinner from you. Good luck with that one!

SpongeBob SquarePants is a household name in entertainment today, not only due to the television series but also due to the associated video games, with Battle for Bikini Bottom being the most illustrious title of the bunch. Released initially nearly seventeen years ago at the end of 2003 for Playstation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC, and Game Boy Advance, the game has long-lived love lingering around to this day; therefore, publishers THQ Nordic and developers Purple Lamp Studios decided it would be keen to reinvent the game and bring it to modern consoles.
When Fire Emblem: Three Houses released in the second half of 2019, it thrust tactical RPGs into the spotlight once again. Named in many Switch owners top three games of the last 12 months, fans new and old enjoyed all that Fire Emblem had to offer. The Surge 2 looks gorgeous. As soon as the start menu screen loads and you choose New Game, you’re treated to a stunning cinematic cutscene that succeeds in its goal of amping you up for some immersive future fightin’ action/RPG.

Falcon Age is a first-person adventure game developed by the small, Seattle-based studio Outerloop. Your journey begins by awaking in a prison cell on a fictitious planet, colonised by an organisation known as the Outer Ring Community (ORC). ORC has stationed robots to farm the planet for resources and uses its inhabitants for manual labour. You play as one of these inhabitants, Ara, whose days consist of monotonous material gathering under the watchful eye of the enslavers. A chance encounter with a baby falcon allows you to escape from the regime and begin your training as a falcon hunter. Fighting alongside her people, Ara plots a rebellion against ORC to reclaim the land that was once theirs.
Xenon Racer is a racing game very much built on the successes of Wipeout and Ridge Racer, releasing on all platforms is a testament to the developers for giving us gamers variety. Set in 2030 you would be forgiven a utopia of the I robot, terminator style tracks or environments and the objective is to win races, unlock new cars, customisations and tracks in different modes via Grand Prix, split screen, time trial and online.
Apparent from my extensive collection of sports-based video games, I am a huge fan of sporting titles. From NBA to Madden, and NFL to FIFA, I have always been a follower of sport and the competitive gameplay that these video games provide. One of my favourite memories of my teenage years was playing Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 – what a game that was. Now, that being said, my eclectic mix of sports games has never extended as far as Baseball.

The type of games that I have always found to be hit-and-miss is those that are described as point-and-click stories, also known as visual novels. As a horror lover, whenever I see a game with a dark-sounding name, I am always interested. As a title, Hell Pages was too intriguing for me to pass up. Going in blind, I loaded up the game and eagerly awaited the horrors.
I am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. I’ve not read anywhere near enough of his stories. The original Gungrave is one of those PS2 titles that I often admired from afar. As a predominantly Xbox fanboy in my teenage years, my time was mainly spent on the battlefield of Halo: Combat Evolved. So sadly, my experience of Gungrave remained looking at the box art in my local video-game store.
