Overall, I like Chroma Quaternion, there are a few things that make the game feel slightly new and updated to other KEMCO JRPG’S. I certainly appreciate the sprites have appropriate clothing requirements and aren’t half-dressed. This also makes Chroma Quaternion more accessible to younger gamers, who might want to try out their first JRPG. Chroma Quaternion has an engaging lighthearted plot, with likeable characters, and who could resist a fluffy animal companion.
Nature Matters is a great looking logic puzzle game, with relaxing background music. The perfect game to go with a nice cup of coffee in between your daily workload. Quick to jump in, do a few levels and jump back out again. A little more variance in the levels would have been appreciated, but overall, if you like your logic puzzles: be sure to check this one out. It’s currently on sale till June 16 in various country, so you could find lots of puzzle fun for a small price. After playing, you can judge for yourself if you are more attuned to nature!
Cosmic Top Secret ended up being a delightful experience for me. Initially, I wasn’t sure what to make of the unusual art style and documentary design. But the more I progressed, the more I learned and became genuinely interested in the subject matter. I think of this game like one of those one off exhibits you see at a museum, only here you can enjoy the experience in the comfort of your own home on the sofa or your favourite chair. Give it a go, you might learn something and possibly get the feels. This is a secret well worth discovering.
If you’re up for a numbers-based puzzle game, I highly recommend Mystic Pillars. Adding a hint system would make it perfect, but it’s still a good game without one. Not only is the gameplay solid, but the visuals and sound show that Holy Cow Productions went the extra mile to present a polished game.
Siebenstreich’s Nerdventure is a fun and enjoyable weird adventure game. The puzzles do pose a challenge but it’s the right kind of challenge, neither too difficult nor too easy. If you’re a point and click adventure connoisseur with a broad sense of humour you’ll probably find what you’re looking for in Siebenstreich’s Nerdventure.
Fallen Legion Revenants has some great ideas but they don’t all come together as well as they should. The battle system is deep but not friendly to newcomers. The political talking sections were a good idea but just didn’t seem to compliment the experience. Overall, it’s an original concept with some flaws. Worth a look if you want to try something different from the norm. But for a third entry in a series, it seems it should be a bit more refined at this point.
Fate Of The Pharaoh is a perfectly enjoyable game, though without much of a challenge. The game would be a great starting ground for a young child who is interested in playing time-management games as it’s accessible to just about anyone. As for adult gamers, as long as you don’t take it too seriously then there’s no real reason you shouldn’t enjoy it.
Cthulhu Saves Christmas is a great example of a game where the developer had a limited budget and possibly resources and just created something pretty darn brilliant. With a funny creative story and gameplay that works for gamers of multiple skill levels, this is well worth purchasing if you need a title to make you smile or just bring the Christmas spirit a little early this year.
While I do like the relaxing gameplay and music in the game, I do feel a little more colour added to the game would brighten it up a little. Compared to other games in this style or genre hexrub looks a little bland. It can also be hard to see what you are doing in the game as the camera isn’t a free-roaming as it could be. In saying that the developer should be praised for the relaxing gameplay and the sweet music to accompany it.
Stray Cat Doors 2 is a lovely game, gorgeous looking visuals, a nostalgic sweet feeling to the adventure and great puzzles to solve. Just the ticket when you get home from a stressful day at work and want to relax. If you like Escape Room games this one might be for you if you don’t mind the cutesy feel. If you like wholesome gaming and solving some light puzzles, this is definitely one to go for. The only minor remark I have is that the English translations could be better. But Pulsmo did a great job once again, expanding on the great gameplay of the first one!
Sumire is a sweet, engrossing narrative adventure, that doesn’t shy away from some heavy topics. The price point in the eShop might be a little high for 3 hours of playtime, that would be my only major complaint about the game. There is some replayability to be had in the game especially if you want to complete all the challenges. I was very happy with the ending I got and couldn’t bring myself to play the game again to get a bad karma ending and complete the challenge (achievement). What can I say…I like a happy ending, who doesn’t?
Regina & Mac World is not a good game. Awful art design, terrible controls and generic design make this 2D platformer near impossible to recommend to anyone. This game was unpleasant to play in every aspect. Unless extensive patches are done later down the road I would avoid this at all costs.
Winds of Change is a lengthy visual novel with hours upon hours of playtime. At times I did feel that it was maybe a bit too long, though I think that will depend on how well you gel with the storyline. While the story is enjoyable and quite interesting, I felt that too much time is spent on managing minor friendships in the game, which feels like a filler to me. If adventure, visual novels with furries are your jam, then you will more than likely find what you are looking for in Winds of Change.
Klondike Solitaire Collection is a decent collection of classic card games that controls well but does the bare minimum to make itself stand out. The core deep and entertaining card experience is here but whether that’s enough is up to you. For a reasonable price point, one can’t deny you get value for your money here for one of the most iconic card games that will still exist years from now.
Rabisco+ is quite a cute little puzzle game, with two to three hours of gameplay. Its level of difficulty would really be down to how good your timing is as most of the obstacles are timed. For the few pounds, it costs in the eShop it would pass a few hours. Though there are better puzzle games out there for the same price!
Asha in Monster World is a good remake that maintains the heart and soul of the original whilst adding a few quality of life improvements for good measure. If you are a fan of the 2D adventure genre or are a fan of the Wonder Boy series and somehow missed out on this game the first time, this is well worth picking up. As a fan of the series myself, it’s great to see it continue to thrive on modern systems.
I just hope that later updates will introduce more content, such as new enemy abilities. Or at least improve the user interface. The thing Spire did well with UI was to provide, through tooltips, all the information you might need to make a good decision. In Slime, informative tooltips weren’t always there to remind me of what certain terms meant—or, they were partially blocked by something else on-screen. Card and button selection could also be better highlighted on certain screens. If I could ask for just one “small” improvement, though, it would be a larger font size. I haven’t played long enough to settle on a definitive verdict, but for now, I can say this: Slushy the Great is still a long way from greatness, but the potential and groundwork is there. I’m keen to see how it develops over time with further updates.
There is plenty of stages to complete with 80 puzzles across five chapters and two different modes, there is a lot to keep you busy. As each new chapter adds unique game mechanics it keeps it fresh and interesting. Be prepared for a few hair-pulling frustrating moments. This is not an easy game, just don’t pull too hard as it hurts!
Very Very Valet does an impressive job of creating a fun casual game that can be enjoyed by gamers of all skill levels. While playable alone this is a game best enjoyed with up to four other people, especially if someone needs cheering up. Improvements could be made to the content but it’s hard not to crack a smile at the silliness on display. A great start to a new IP. What’s easy to say in this review is Very Very Valet is very very good.
The non-violent aspects of Before We Leave won’t suit every strategy fan, especially those who enjoy a good war strategy. For those that enjoy exploration and resource management mixed with some strategic thinking, Before We Leave fits the bill! At the moment Before We Leave is a decent strategy game. With future updates to the game and the possibility for more exploring and juggling resources, this is one for strategists to keep an eye on.
