I have really enjoyed playing Conjurer Andy’s Repeatable Dungeon for this review and I will continue to play the game as I’m no where near the end of the dungeons. In fact, when writing the review, having to check something in the game, I found it extremely hard to set the game aside to continue writing. I love ‘the push your luck’ mechanics in the game and having to decide if I should risk one more floor of the dungeon when my team is low on HP. Yes, there is repetitive gameplay but it’s not the sort of game that is meant to be played for hours on end. It’s a fantastic quick fix game, the sort you would play in between something more heavy. Conjurer Andy’s Repeatable Dungeon should have pride and place on everyones Nintendo Switch.

If Panzer Paladin was an episode of Voltron, I would re-watch it every week. Since it’s not, I’ll just settle for keeping this additive retro-inspired title on a regular gaming cycle. Panzer Paladin has won me over with its soundtrack, its sci-fi demons design, and general retro quirkiness. It’s the sort of game that makes me want to be a paladin every single time!

Though this Paper Mario: The Origami King isn’t an RPG, and more of an Adventure game it is still a brilliant game. It is a game full to the brim with delightful writing, lots of humour, bright vibrant colours, old faithful characters and laugh out loud moments for the player. While it follows the Paper Mario formula in some aspects, it does more to re-imagine the series then not. Paper Mario: The Origami King is a worthy contender in the Paper Mario series, and is the perfect game to immerse yourself in for a wonderful crumpled, creased and folded adventure.

Loved - Locomotion
Jul 29, 2020

Locomotion is a very well crafted puzzle game. Packed full with humour and it’s very enjoyable to solve puzzles that really do leave you with a sense of accomplishment upon completing them. You can see the love developers Polyfox have put into their game as you play through it and they should be proud they have made such a cute, enjoyable experience for the player. Locomotion is priced very reasonably in the eShop and I see no reason whatsoever not to roll this super entertaining puzzle game on to your Nintendo Switch to let of some steam with Locomotion. That leaves me only one thing to say, my score for Locomotion is…. a choo choo fantastic…

Heroes of Hammerwatch is a game that grows on you. While definitely more fun with others I still had a lot of fun alone. It may have minor faults but I loved how I kept discovering something new about the game whether it was discovering a new mechanic or mastering the games traps. This is easily a title I’ll return to for years to come.

Loved - Skully
Aug 18, 2020

I do think Skully has lived up to my expectations. I will leave my frustration behind as I find most platform games frustrating at times while playing them, it’s the nature of the genre. Skully is a very enjoyable game and the puzzles are a lot of fun. Set in beautiful environments, with great voice acting and humour. If you are a fan of the genre, Skully is definitely a game you should consider adding it to your Nintendo Switch library.

I do not say this lightly but this is literally the best hidden object puzzle type game that I have ever played. It has been available on Steam for some time, but recently moved to Android as well. Let’s hope it will get to the iOS store too! The puzzles are just challenging enough and each one feels unique. I love that it is a longer game and every second of play has just been absolutely fantastic! I hope to see other, similar games from these developers because they clearly put in a lot of time and work to create quality games!

Loved - Windbound
Aug 28, 2020

The focus in Windbound is definitely more on the survival side, with you keeping protagonist Kara alive in this rogue-like game. The game also takes the survival genre in a new direction by providing endless replay-ability options thanks to the procedural world, and dynamic because of the modular craft you can build. As each time you play the size of your boat changes depending on what resources you can find on the islands, these dictate the type of boat you can build. There is something quite satisfying about building your own boat and setting sail across the sea into unknown territory in Windbound. I’ve found the game to be very entertaining and a lot of fun to play.

Loved - Evergate
Aug 29, 2020

Evergate is a beautiful and clever platformer. Once you get your head round the mechanics there is something quite special here to enjoy for the puzzle-platforming fan. If you need to take a break away from this world for a while, Evergate will take you to an afterlife with great music, rewarding challenges, and a moving story that may just speak to those who share a special bond with someone.

I am going to be 100% honest here as a gamer and a music lover. I have absolutely fallen in love with No Straight Roads. The sheer diversity of style and inspiration and even the music at play here and the experimental mix of rhythm and action works out in it’s favor as it may help out with learning people how to time parries and dodges. Also the Switch version running at 60FPS is something I really praise. I am 100% recommending this to people who enjoy stylish indie games and music be it Rock, Rap or one of the various EDM genres the game has on offer.

A game that keeps me playing for just one more turn, and then one more, even when I’m tired after a long day is a great game in my book. Niche – A Genetics Survival Game isn’t a game for everyone. Of course, you can dive in and just create your family without keeping the genetics in mind. But the deeper I delved, the more the game appealed to me. Notebook at the ready, keeping track of what genes I wanted to strive for, making choices to make the gene pool stable and strong. I love it. So if you like a game that you can sink your teeth in, and you love planning, strategising and playing around to get the best results, then Niche is your game. No fighting (well, aside from defending yourself from a predator), no violence, taking your time and trying to get a thriving tribe of Nichelings while exploring the surroundings. It will make for many, many hours of gaming fun.

Loved - Spiritfarer
Sep 8, 2020

Spiritfarer is a positive look at death as all the characters make peace with both their life and death in their own time The characters are charming, all have depth with stories to tell. While some mini-games may feel tedious the more you do them, there are plenty of other tasks in the game to balance this out. Playing Spiritfarer at this particular time in the mad and crazy world we live in is something everyone should do. As well as being entertaining and enjoyable to play Spiritfarer is hopeful, comforting, and positive and certainly big on delivering the ”feels”!

Star Renegades is a beautiful looking futuristic game with fun memorable characters and deep tactical gameplay to match. Certainly not an easy game. The Imperium is a hard enemy to stand up to. But with every failed attempt comes new lessons in the hopes of finally entering that dimension where you succeed. Star Renegades is a game I won’t be putting down anytime soon and look forward to its future updates.

Loved - A Short Hike
Sep 10, 2020

A Short Hike offers a wholesome experience for a small price. Though the game is short, it’s worth every penny. Put yourself in Claires shoes (do bluebirds wear shoes?) and explore this lovely landscape. Meet all kinds of characters and help them in their quest. Most of all: glide through the air, truly as free as a bird!

It was a pleasure to spend time with The Last Campfire: a world filled with charm and wonder. The details of the world, and the characters in it, play like an interactive storybook. Poignant and charming, The Last Campfire is an adventure puzzle game that developers Hello Games should be very proud of. It deserves a spot on everyone’s Nintendo Switch.

Kingdom Rush Origins keeps the familiar and fun game mechanics from the first two installments in the series. And with so many heroes to choose from with different skill sets to try out and challenge of the different modes, there is plenty to keep you busy. I think that Origins feels more balanced than the others in the series and it’s also the best one. Kingdom Rush is quite possibly the most iconic Tower Defense game out there in the market. If you’re a fan of the series like I am there isn’t any reason why you wouldn’t love this edition to Kingdom Rush, just like I do.

Mini Motor Racing X was a pleasant surprise. It took me back to the days of playing Micro Machines on my Mega Drive. Fun, simple arcade gameplay that does the trick for gamers with not a lot of time to spare. Tons of tracks as well as fun extra modes make this a great racing package worth playing alone or with a friend in split screen. I didn’t think I would ever be won over by a racing game again to this degree but here we are. Good job developers!

Sep 19, 2020

Deleveled offers addictive and challenging gameplay throughout the 120 levels in the game. It is a simple concept of momentum in action, but don’t let that fool you. As Deleveled certainly delivers lots of puzzling enjoyment and hours of bouncing fun.

Paradise Killer is everything I wanted from an open-world detective game; complete freedom to interrogate and investigate, not having to worry about missing a clue because you can always go back to that location, secrets hidden both in plain sight and tucked away, and the ability to decide for yourself who is guilty. Throw in a likeable protagonist, a liberal sprinkling of inappropriate humor and swearing (pay attention to that age rating!), and a truly mind-boggling cast of characters; Paradise Killer is a bizarre but wondrous experience that you’d be remiss to miss out on – I’m just praying for a collector’s edition release!

Loved - Hades
Oct 4, 2020

Hades is a brutal but highly entertaining trip through the Greek underworld. Although I got knocked down again and again much like the stubborn prince himself I couldn’t help but get back up and try just one more time. With so much content on offer, this will easily be a game I’ll have in regular rotation for a long time to come. Definitely a title worthy of the Gods!
