The Long Journey home is graphically beautiful, the colours are rich, vibrant, which help bring the game to life, as does the game’s score which adds to the atmosphere of your surroundings. Personally, I really enjoyed the game, a real sense of adventure, in a never-ending galaxy, with classic sci-fi influences. The hidden stories throughout are a joy, full of treasure and suspense that really keep you on your toes in this wonderful journey.

There is a lot of content on offer here, but the uninspiring track layouts and imprecise controls led to me getting frustrated the faster I was expected to go and ultimately made completing the game a bit of a chore. It did grow on me, but ultimately it’s tough to recommend.

If you like the Overcooked formula and want more of a challenge I’d say this is well worth the purchase. If not, you won’t find anything new here to win you over.

Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 is a fantastically hand drawn side-scroller making small steps of improvement from the original, and with the addition of 4-player multiplayer there’s plenty for this to stand out as a sequel. Now all I want is a roll and slide mechanic to try and do none hit runs on levels.

Fishing Sim World is one for the fishing enthusiasts with the time and patience to invest in learning the game’s core set of controls for catching fish. Play the long learning game and you’ll be pulling fish after fish out the water, but if you struggle to get past this barrier you’ll be throwing your rod into the lake and heading home for the day.

I can’t recommend Hollow Knight enough. If you have even a passing interest in plaformers or Metroidvania’s this is up there with the best. It can seem overwhelming as, although I finished the main story and got one of the three endings there was still so much to see and do.

If you like games like Trials or Speedrunners this game will be right up your street. However, if you get easily frustrated by these types you won’t find anything new here to change your mind. I’m off for one more go. Gotta top those leaderboards…

Planet Alpha is a fun to play platforming adventure set at a fast pace and on a fascinating world to explore. Once you’ve learned that you can control time of day, the puzzle mechanics become more unique and interesting. It’s just let down by the lack of unique gameplay compared to previous atmospheric platformers released.

I enjoyed it despite the short play time and as I said previously, achievement hunters will grab an easy 1000G here. It’s worth the fiver even if there were times that it showed it’s mobile roots. That’s not a bad thing though, it was light and breezy and a nice stress free game you can hammer through quickly. A nice little pallette cleanser if you will. It was good fun and worth a look.

The Mooseman is interesting to play and brings a glimmer of Limbo-esque gameplay to the table. I would however, be more inclined to replay Limbo as I have done before, whereas The Mooseman is just missing that something in its gameplay that makes me want to enjoy the challenges it has to offer.

So what do I think overall? Well, it’s an excellent idea, it’s well executed, it’s addictive and it looks really nice. Is it fun? Yes, but it gets grindy quickly and the save bug really put me off putting too much more time in. Would I recommend it? If you have Game Pass, you’ve got nothing to lose as it’s available on there. If not, take advantage of the current offer and try it for only a few quid. If you don’t, then it’s a yes and no.

If you haven’t played the original, don’t worry you can jump right into Overcooked 2. Overall, it’s a superior title to the original and delivers a much more solid package. However, as a returning player you’ll know what to expect so if more of the same isn’t your thing then I’d avoid it.

State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem is a half hearted attempt at a remake. Visually the game sees slight improvements and in terms of enjoyment this will offer between maybe 4-5 hours before it begins to feel too much the same. If you enjoy blasting relentless enemies for fun with different weapons and vehicles then this may be of interest.

Now as many of you will know if you’ve read my previous reviews, I really enjoy this style of game but I am very particular. Dead Cells is definitely one of the best examples in the genre. It never feels unfair and can be a very rewarding experience. There is still a lot of luck involved in getting the right tools to get to the end, but when you do, I dare you not to punch the air with joy and also breathe a sigh in relief. I can bet you also start all over again. I implore you to give Dead Cells a try, even if it’s not normally your type of game because it’s very, very rewarding.

Shape of The World offers a good selection of 10 hours or more gameplay and with procedurally generated areas every experience is different. I would definitely recommend a headphone experience to get the best out of its soothing soundtrack and beautiful colour livening areas.

I really can’t say it enough, this is pure unadulterated fun. The simplicity encourages a great deal of experimentation and there are a variety of ways levels can be completed. It’s fun messing with the physics and exploring the small islands and you can tackle it all at your own pace. If you want something that’s cleverly constructed and doesn’t outstay it’s welcome I can’t recommend Mugsters enough. I’m off to crash some more cars and blow up some more aliens.

For a side-scrolling beat-em up title, Die For Valhalla! is a fairly enjoyable title with procedurally generated levels no experience will be the same and the extra of local co-op can mean double the fun or quadruple the fun in this case. My only concern is how long will you want to play essentially the same style of play over and over.

I loved my time in Moonlighter’s world and if you have a soft spot for old school action RPGs like Zelda but yearn for a new twist on the formula, you can’t go wrong here. Combat is uncomplicated, it looks delightful and it has a really nice soundtrack. The core gameplay loop is fulfilling and it’s easy to find yourself lost in the moment to moment gameplay. I heartily recommend having a look regardless of whether you have time for another game or not.

Jurassic World Evolution is fantastically linked to Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. It was great to see 3 movie franchise actors lend their voices to their in-game counterparts. In terms of gameplay, it offers a fun to play dinosaur park management experience, although future updates will control it’s success as new dinosaurs are the only fresh element currently from last week’s update so far.

Not every game needs to be all the sparkle and jazz. But sometimes I wonder who the target audience for these games are. The idea is sound in theory but not in practice. I don’t expect perfection every time and some of my favourite games look like they’ve been cheaply cobbled together but deliver gameplay and enjoyment in spades. This isn’t one of those games.
