Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II proved to be the best game in the series to this day. Improving on previously presented mechanics while successfully trying to implement new and interesting ones, Experience Inc. has managed to create a world with charismatic characters and a captivating and immersive mystery that is very well followed by satisfying gameplay that flows organically. In conclusion, Death Mark II is an excellent horror game and definitely deserves to be played by fans of the genre despite its setbacks.

GUNVOLT RECORDS: Cychronicle is an unusual spin-off, but a welcome addition to the franchise. Being able to enjoy the captivating soundtracks from the games is a great choice for the fans. However, for those who are in this group but don't have familiarity with the genre, the experience demands patience and dedication, as the quick tempo of the songs makes even the easiest stages demanding.

With few 2D fighting games coming to the Nintendo Switch, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes fills a gap that has been missing not only on the platform. With the end of series like BlazBlue, titles that use sprites and have diverse mechanics are increasingly disappearing to make way for more simplified experiences.

If it weren't for the absence of a local cooperative mode and the exaggerated simplicity of the story mode, Cursed Clash would have been a great debut for Jujutsu Kaisen on consoles. Despite lacking polish in certain aspects of combat, the game itself fulfills its purpose of being fun to play. Fans of the series will certainly find positive things here. However, the feeling remains that it could have been bigger and better, something on par with what the anime delivered in its first two seasons.

6 / 10.0 - Shanghai Summer
Feb 9, 2024

Shanghai Summer had enough ingredients to be a memorable story but failed to do so. Sprites were pleasant at first glance but were not properly used, and the elements external to the main story end up being forgettable. Combine this with the game's bad grammar, lack of cohesion, and layout issues, and the final result is a bad structure that failed to suport the game's best element: the story.

Despite the glaring low points and the frustrations I had with the little of “active” gameplay the game offered, I came away from this experience satisfied, with an interesting collection of CGs in my Switch gallery. However, I still wonder if PQube will help in the localization of the first KonoSuba VN, since the events of it are mentioned in this one… But that question, for now, can remain unanswered.

Spirit Hunter: NG is in fact a major upgrade over its predecessor. However, it still doesn't reach excellence in any of the aspects that the game does best, except for the art direction. Regardless, the series' potential is still clear, delivering above-average titles that have only improved so far. NG isn't an essential game for fans of the genre, but it offers a solid experience that will surely please most.

Another Code: Recollection is an unexpected pack made with lots of care to retell Ashley Mizuki Robbins's journey. Here we get a thrilling mystery and intuitive puzzles, making this game duo a great entry point to get to know Japanese adventures and making sure this piece of videogame history doesn't stay stuck in the past as only a memory for those who experienced it.

To all fans of this series, I wholeheartedly recommend this collection. The level of quality invested here is noticeable, and the rescue of titles now lost due to the death of the Nintendo 3DS eShop must always be acknowledged. Talking specifically about Apollo Justice, the quality of the series remains the same, and it is worth it as a continuation of a trilogy as tender and beloved as the previous one, with simple but moving tributes. Even though the other titles don't reach the level of quality of Shu Takumi, I believe the experience is still worth every second.

The new version is still as fun as the original and it's great to have the opportunity to play this classic on the Switch. That said, I can't recommend picking up this game, at least not yet. The errors and bugs that are present here are something that take me by surprise, given that Feral's previous titles work perfectly.

7.5 / 10.0 - Steam Prison
Jan 19, 2024

Steam Prison has a great plot, with its characters and their routes revealing details and plot twists that left me curious to know how it would all end. Although Cyrus may be a protagonist that divides opinions, I honestly don't think she's that bad. Of course, the pace of the story leaves a bit to be desired, with some plot points that end up not developing fully (or at least not as well as the characters) and the translation also suffers from some small typos.

Prince of Persia: Lost Crown is a very fun game that keeps you hooked. It's hard enough to motivate you to try again and learn how it works, because of that I died a few times (the reborn point is always a little far from everything, but it's part of it). The parry part is annoying, yes, you get the hang of it later, but it's still quite annoying.

8 Colors Star Guardians+ is a short game, with only 2 chapters, which I enjoyed from start to finish. The game's combat is simple, but fun, the characters have an entertaining story, without abstaining from eventual depth.

Ikkarus and the Prince of Sin combines simulation and visual novel to present a curious fantasy experience, but it unfortunately fails in showing quality in any of its parts. The end result is disfunctional and souless, and the wonky Portuguese translation hinders rather than helps.

With a good dose of humor, MOTESOLO shows how a blind date can bring to light many embarrassing things to people who have social issues and are desperate for the opportunity to connect with someone. Though many technical aspects weaken the experience, this is a curious FMV game that's worth giving a try if the premise appeals to you.

Death Mark is sustained purely by its carefully crafted atmosphere while delivering an average story with forgettable characters, but still managing to deliver a satisfying, though simple, gameplay loop. It's far from bad, but it's disappointing because it falls a little short of becoming a great game.

6.5 / 10.0 - Metro Quester
Dec 26, 2023

If turn-based RPGs aren't appealing to many players, this one is even more niche. The feeling that there was no budget for many things to be executed the way they should be is clear. There's a extremely complex system, but there are no animated monsters, the battles are not engaging because there are no animations and this was a major factor that made the game tedious. If I were to recommend this game, I would say it would be for fans of RPGs of the genre who really like it and are used to more dated gameplay and are looking for a more complex challenge than the one a series known in the mainstream can offer, in short: hardcore players.

7 / 10.0 - Born of Bread
Dec 24, 2023

My conclusion about Born of Bread is divided: on one hand I think the game was made with a lot of care and the developers seems truly passionate about the genre and what they were doing, on the other hand I feel that the game failed to maintain my interest throughout the experience. Not that it was that hard to finish the game, but at several moments I found myself with little interest in continuing the adventure and figuring out what was going to happen. I believe this will be interesting mainly for Paper Mario fans to evaluate whether it is a good spiritual successor or not. For me, the game falls far short of the paper Mario franchise, mainly due to the less inspired writing. Still, the visuals, characters and combat may be enough to capture some people's attention. So it might be a good idea not to dismiss this game completely.

Despite the pleasant aesthetics and interesting proposal, Mineko’s Night Market is not able to stand out. I still believe it to be a pleasant experience for those looking for farm sims with a focus on DIY, but don't expect anything huge, especially in terms of customization. Technical problems significantly affect performance on the Nintendo Switch.
