Despite the technical issues mentioned above, River City Girls Zero fulfills its purpose of providing a taste of more fighting in the presence of the immensely charismatic duo Kyoko and Misako. Given that times have changed, with a more inclusive environment for people who identify as female, it's actually quite pleasing that a spin-off title featuring empowered girls has become the franchise's flagship series.

Finally, I recommend Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden for those who enjoy more classic RPGs and want to experience an alternative evolution that maintains more of the essence of these games, and also for those willing to absorb a JRPG adventure in a different way than usual.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus seems to be the new path that the franchise will take. With so many major changes that apparently pleased the public, I think it's very difficult to go back to what we had without considering at least something from here. Not that forgetting mechanics isn't a constant in Pokémon, right? Anyway, I loved the game. There's a lot to do, it gives you a lot of options, freedom, and it's fun. If you decide, "Oh, today I just want to capture Starlys," you can. It's by far the best Pokémon game I've played in recent years, and I hope it stays that way.

Variable Barricade is a romcom with a weird premise about a girl who absolutely doesn't want to fall in love. With very charismatic characters and a fluid narrative that doesn't get boring, I can easily say this is one of the best otome games translated by Aksys Games.

8.5 / 10.0 - Monark
Feb 16, 2022

MONARK is a great tactical JRPG with fun characters, a good combat system, and a story with a great atmosphere, that manages to be both somber and mysterious, while also reflecting upon many important themes. But in its execution it ends up slipping a bit, creating a formula that can be too repetitive for most, especially in the need to grind for experience to continue the main story.

While a game of easy investigations and without much winding, Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments is an interesting game to try. The cases are distinct enough to maintain the player's interest and yields a few hours of fun. However, if you are looking for a work with a good characterization of Holmes, bizarre mysteries and amazing deductions and a moral message that leaves a deep impression… I recommend looking for The Great Ace Attorney.

8.5 / 10.0 - PopSlinger
Jan 25, 2022

PopSlinger is a mix of good things, and it results in something that is both faithful to its inspirations and somewhat original. It is a simple game in its structure, being a basic shooter, with enough interesting weapon and enemy variations. It's also an accessible rhythm and memorization game without many secrets, with several tools implemented to aid the user's overall experience during the experience. Its narrative fulfills the purpose of motivating the player to keep playing, although it eventually gets tangled up in its mysteries, depending on a scarce but pleasant cast with good voice actresses.

7 / 10.0 - Labyrinth Legend
Jan 13, 2022

Labyrinth Legend is a very simple game with good ideas and fun concepts, it has gotten a surprisingly good soundtrack and memorable boss fights. The adventure has a good amount of content and even a post-game experience with a true secret final boss, but it can get boring very quickly with combat that doesn't change much throughout the game and doesn't leave much room for experimentation as it should.

Clockwork Aquario could be enriched with more game modes, more gameplay variations, and why not a mode where you can play with friends online, something essential in these times of social distancing? I'm rooting for the game to reach its audience and for a sequel to be made, giving the developers the time and tools to create something grand and worthy of the quality shown here.

While this game lacks a strong narrative and plot twists, and shares considerable similarities in some routes, it still offers plenty of additional content. As an extra to the 10-year collection, I think Danganronpa S is the perfect experience. As a standalone game, I think it's worth it for those obsessed with the franchise like me, or fans of gacha and turn-based RPGs who are familiar with the series.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is almost indisputably the pinnacle of the Danganronpa franchise. Even so, its self-critical approach may alienate some fans; I myself found this approach strange on my first playthrough. That said, when it comes to minigames and narrative pacing, its dominance is undoubtedly unquestionable. The additional minigames offered in this game's menu are far superior to the additional content of the previous games. However, a drawback of this game is that, much more than the second, you need to have played the previous two. Since its focus isn't exactly expanding the lore but rather commenting on the fandom to some extent, it doesn't exactly explain and connect events, leaving that part for the player with previous experiences in the franchise.

Lynn, The Girl Drawn On Puzzles is a simple, cohesive, and compact package, but a little too compact. Despite the reasonable price, I admit that it is a little disappointing to know that a simple, polished game, with a very atypical (in a positive sense) aesthetic direction, for a game of this genre is so short, and because it is a game in which puzzles are the main focus, the replay factor is practically non-existent.

The story of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair alone captivates the player and is extremely satisfying, but when viewed alongside the first, it demonstrates a cohesive and engaging work from beginning to end. With a delightful pace, some of the most creative storylines in the franchise, an interesting and clever expansion, and many fun minigames, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair can easily be considered the best in the franchise. Not to mention its captivating cast of characters and the art direction that seamlessly transitions from the first game's school to this game's island, giving this adventure its own identity and a sense of cohesion to the franchise.

The game's initial content is good, but if Nintendo doesn't feed it with new activities for each category, the lack of new stuff could drive some players away, even if it already is a solid final product.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is an excellent story told in 6 chapters that simultaneously answers the main questions raised by the story and leaves the necessary hooks for the next entries. With a delightful reading pace, charming logic mini-games and an intriguing story, Danganronpa remains a remarkable adventure even after 10 years.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX reintroduces Koei Tecmo's monster franchise to video game fans who have forgotten about the series or never had the chance to experience it. With some interesting new features, the package is interesting for those who enjoy simulation games and have always wanted to create monsters from scratch instead of capturing them. With the idea of creating monsters from CDs, there's nothing more fun than bringing a creature to life through your favorite game, training it, and winning a difficult tournament at the end thanks to a stroke of luck.

9 / 10.0 - Loop Hero
Dec 9, 2021

Loop Hero has already been much discussed when released on other platforms, and it grabbed my attention when it was nominated as the best indie game in The Game Awards 2021. However, I was unable to prepare for the overwhelming wave that such a game introduced me, sucking myself entirely on its themes and goals. The more you play, the more you discover, whether different classes, spells and skills, or even new enemies, which enrich the "blocky" world. On Switch, the portable mode has a touch screen option, transporting us to the void even more strongly.

Miracle Snack Shop was a very delightful surprise, from the outside it may seem like just another date simulator focused on “choosing your favorite waifu”, but in the inside it tells two very well-developed love stories, with very relatable situations that convey very relevant messages about responsibility, happiness and love. The only issue with its narrative being that it doesn’t really come close to giving Mira the same attention that Philia had, sometimes making it seem like she’s just a second thought in the story. And the sales management system, despite being very simple, was enough to give a good change of pace to the constant reading, it greatly encourages you to plan how to use your resources. Deinitely check it out if you enjoy visual novels and/or dating sims.

Just as it's wrong to say that a platformer with a platform-jumping character is just a Super Mario clone, it's wrong to say that The Wild at Heart is just a clone of Pikmin. Enjoy the adventure without constantly comparing the two. Everything is so well done that I'd love to see Nintendo entrust Moonlight Kids with a new Pikmin game.

All in all, I had a lot of fun, and I'll definitely be making new saves after this one, trying out different challenges with different teams, etc. Is this game for you? Well, if you honestly like Pokémon, go for it; Sinnoh won't disappoint. However, if you're looking for a new experience, you might want to think twice, as this is just a remastered version.
