68 / 100 - Sublevel Zero
Oct 18, 2015

I want to be able to recommend Sublevel Zero to everyone out of principle, but I can't do that in good conscience. It's a game with a striking presentation, but suffers from problems that no amount of sheen can cover up. Float past this one, sadly waving at what could have been.

Transformers Devastation is a great action game marred by a few design hiccups. Camera issues can make combat a chore, but that combat is extremely satisfying at its core. Fans of cartoons, action games, comics, Transformers, and fun will likely have a good time with Platinum's latest. Is it the best they've done? No. Is it still a good time? Heck yes.

It's dull, repetitive, and just doesn't offer the replayability of other rogue-likes.

Yoshi's Woolly World is a very good platformer. It'll take you 15-20 hours to do everything, and it's enough fun that it'll probably get you wanting to play it again in a few years. It has solid Nintendo production values, retro platforming, and is appropriate for many ages and tastes. Despite some repetitive levels, and easy bosses, Yoshi's Woolly World is highly recommended.

All in all, Samurai Warriors 4-II holds up extremely well on its own; however, when compared to Samurai Warriors 4, it might not be as extraordinary especially money wise. Nonetheless, even if you have played though Samurai Warriors 4, there are still great things for you to experience like the story mode, survival mode, and revamped upgrade system.

44 / 100 - Extreme Exorcism
Oct 14, 2015

The unbalanced multiplayer, uninspiring music and repetitive gameplay are just a few of the more significant issues that dragged the entire experience down. Sadly, Extreme Exorcism is going straight to the graveyard for me.

79 / 100 - Penarium
Oct 14, 2015

Visiting the sadistic circus is definitely not what it seems. You will find yourself enjoying the majority of your time at Penarium. The graphics and controls draw you in and make it easy to play. The charm and difficulty is what makes you stay.

Even though I'm a massive Walking Dead fan (both the TV and comics) I only somewhat enjoyed my time with this game due to its randomness and forced duties that hinder exploration and experimentation in long bursts.

With everything taken into account, Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash is a well-put together title. The pros outweigh the cons by leagues and it has fun packed into all the right places.

[I]f you like twin-stick shooters or arcadey indie games, do yourself a favour and download the demo for Assault Android Cactus. If you think it's worth your time and money, pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

40 / 100 - Armikrog
Oct 11, 2015

Doug, I love your work as a whole, but Armikrog feels like an unpolished mess. If the entire game had received the effort that was put towards the visuals, this would have easily been the spiritual successor to games that I have very fond memories of. This clay could have used some more time in the kiln, that's for sure.

Action junkies will probably come away underwhelmed but if you are looking for a change of pace in your game playing regime this thoughtful, Carl Sagan Cosmos-like experience is a wonderful candidate to consider.

At the end of the day if you are looking to relive Nathan Drakes' adventures, or you want to experience them for the first time, then Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is the way to do it. With improved visuals and control, you'll really enjoy them. Be forewarned though, there are no extra features to celebrate the franchise, something I think would have been beneficial for returning fans and new fans alike.

86 / 100 - LEGO Dimensions

When compared to its compatriots, no matter how well established they already are, it's a clear win for the bricks. Familiar licenses for all ages coupled with equally familiar gameplay and the most powerful toybrand in existence leaves no room for failure. If you're in for a dime though you're likely in for a dollar so prepare to open those wallets (willingly, I'm sure) to truly open up all the game's wonders.

In summary, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is pretty much a poorly done remake of THPS 2. In the year 2000, this game was innovative, fun and an absolute delight to play. But this is 2015. There should be dramatic changes in the gameplay, in the challenge, in everything! To replicate a game that is older than my nephew and to have it come out on a new generation console with bugs? I'm kind of surprised someone actually even took credit for this game.

I like the idea that I can play as a pissed off farmer who just wants to save his family and his town, I just can't fully commit to the idea when I feel as if I'm flailing my arms around like two giant fish attached to a WeebleWobble.

85 / 100 - Rock Band 4
Oct 6, 2015

At the end of the day Rock Band 4 feels more like an evolution than a drastic departure. If you've always wanted to put your mark on a song, then the new self-expression enhancements are reason enough to give Rock Band 4 a shot. Couple that with a branching career mode, support for your old instruments and DLC and Rock Band 4 stands out as the best game in the series, even if it's missing some core features.

I recommend the game wholeheartedly to that certain brand of gamer that gets satisfaction out of building intricate little machines and watching them go. It's a unique sandbox game that has all the necessary ingredients to hook you, if you let it.
