For a simple, short, and mostly fun game, you can do a lot worse than Tank Troopers.
Bye-Bye Boxboy! is a succinct, value-packed title. It's the bookend of a great puzzle series and it doesn't try to be more than what it is — an addictive puzzler that's accessible and not overly difficult.
I think Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of the Dusk accomplishes what it sets out to do. It's more interactive visual novel than it is a typical vidoegame, but if you're in the mood for a casual yet compelling experience that's well written with a strong cast and solid presentation, you can't go wrong here.
Even after a dozen years and seven (or eleven) games, Yakuza 0 is an impressive and easy invitation to its namesake’s adrenalized world.
Overall, LEGO Worlds is a LEGO game many fans of the franchise have been waiting for. Between the robust create tools and ability to discover randomly generated worlds, LEGO Worlds offers a ton of great fun. While it’s not nearly as addictive or simple as a game like Minecraft, it should be viewed as a different take on the Create-Your-Own-World genre. The game is unfortunately brought down by it’s floaty and odd controls, but having thousands of classic LEGOs in the game can make up for it if you’re looking for a nostalgic LEGO trip.
It's awesome, masterfully blending the old with the new and reminding us all what a true Sonic game is about.
In sum, Ghost Recon Wildlands takes the series to the (vast) open world and largely succeeds. Like its predecessors, it's best played with friends in co-op, and while it sacrifices some realism, it adds a lot of new opportunities for fun and mayhem against the bad guys.
The first five minutes of This is the Police will no doubt hook players into the world they’re about to step foot in. Unfortunately, the only way to progress through the story is to grind through the gameplay, which at times can slow the game to a screeching halt. This is upsetting due to the game’s fantastic storytelling. There will be people who will pass through the gameplay with ease and find enjoyment in it. However, in my case, it provided me with a negative experience. This is the Police is by no means a bad game, it just fails to hold up after the player starts the gaming sections. There will certainly be those who enjoy the gameplay and find it thought provoking, however, if a player wants something more involved, they might be disappointed.
All in all, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX is the most robust collection available to experience all of the Kingdom Hearts games. While difficult to recommend to those who have played the games before, the collection does offer a chance for long time fans to brush up on the story. Combined with the already released Kingdom Hearts 2.8, we’re just one step closer to finally playing Kingdom Hearts 3. Whenever that may be!
Overall, LIT is a sound puzzle game that features a charming and light-hearted horror environment. The puzzles never become dull and are difficult enough to where the players won't feel that their intelligence is being insulted.
David O’Reilly’s Everything is quite the experience and journey to undertake. It’s simple, yet deep. It asks you to think about ‘just being’, but encourages you to explore the thoughts and emotions of other beings in the game. It’s a lightly addictive game that will have you staring at your television for hours and leave you wanting to keep the experience alive for no particular reason other than to keep going, which could be a metaphor for any living creature struggling to know the how and why they exist.
Despite a lacking story, the Nemesis System is still the coolest gameplay mechanic I have ever seen in a game. Fans of Shadow of Mordor will find lots to love about Shadow of War, and new fans will surely enjoy the addictive and impressive gameplay. Just don't go in expecting a canon Tolkien story.
Detention featured cool, dark artwork, very creepy animation, and a spooky, well thought out soundtrack. For an independent game, I was quite impressed with the gameplay and the depth of the story. This game will make you jump a few times and could definitely lead to some nightmares. If you want to have some fun and get scared this fall season, definitely check out Detention.
Not without its quirks and issues, Mortal Shell is a fun and unrelenting good time. Shell-swapping makes the experience unique, while its combat and world are ripe for experimentation and exploration. Though unabashedly inspired by other games in its genre, Mortal Shell warrants a play from the most die-hard of fans.
All in all, Bloody Zombies was a very good game at its price point.
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by this game. Despite flaws, I would say it's certainly worth a download.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a refinement of the series as a whole, curating years' of mechanics and ideas into a generational bookend that should please open world adventurers and devotees of the hidden blade.
No More Heroes 3 is enticingly irreverent, throwing a barrage of stimuli at the player. While repetitive side missions may pad out its length, SUDA51's bizarre vision shines through, creating a can't miss roller coaster of action, laughs, and assassinations.
It's not an instant classic nor is a complete misstep and while it feels like the series is nearing it's end Dead Rising 4 is a fun and entertaining entry.
Yakuza 6 applies themes of fatherhood and masculinity as coping mechanisms for intense interpersonal drama. While it surrenders the sweeping ambition that defined Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 5, it feels sharper, more focused, and more honest about its intentions. At age 48, it's impolite to define Kazuma Kiryu as an old man, but it's clear that he—and Yakuza 6 as a whole—are devoted to passing their experience on to the next generation.
