A great addition to the catalog of fighting game compilations from the genre's golden age. This collection gives players the opportunity to rediscover lesser-known titles—or some forgotten due to their low popularity—along with acclaimed classics.

An ambitious modernization that undeniably preserves the essence of the 2006 classic while introducing visual, gameplay, and quality-of-life improvements. Thanks to this —and despite even inheriting the original's flaws—Bethesda and Virtuos have delivered a smoother experience with a great set of accessibility options for new players.

6.8 / 10.0 - Mostroscopy
May 13, 2025

This is a niche game that probably won't appeal to a large portion of the fighting game community and the lack of an online mode doesn't help. However, its concept is very appealing, and fans of the films it references will inevitably be drawn to it, even if only to give it a look. It's a game made for a very specific and small group of players, but you may belong to that group and not even know it.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 not only secures a spot on my list of the best games of 2025, but also on my list of favorite games of all time. I'm in love with its wonderful, mystery-filled story, its long-suffering yet charismatic characters, its secret-filled map, and its perfectly balanced combat system. Some elements could be more polished, but that doesn't take away from its title of a work of art.

A very good option for those who miss RPGs with turn-based combat like they were made more than 20 years ago. It has an intriguing story, excellent characters, and very good chibi-style visual art. The numerous fights can be a bit tiring, and some scenarios feel more labyrinthine than they should be, but it's a game worth playing, whether you're a fan of Maliki's webcomic or have never heard of it before.

We are facing a title that will undoubtedly be the roadmap for future SNK games and will be the best fighting game of 2025.

7.7 / 10.0 - South of Midnight
Apr 14, 2025

South of Midnight is a short experience, which, despite its narrative strengths and immersive, spectacular setting, suffers from certain weaknesses in the execution of its story and the development of its main and secondary characters. Additionally, its gameplay isn't bad, but the level and combat design quickly become repetitive—given the game's short length.

Bleach: Rebirth of Souls offers a combat system with interesting, innovative and strategic mechanics. Thanks to that, this is a fighting game with enough depth to appeal to the community of a genre as demanding as the FGC.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is the most ambitious open-world action-RPG the Wii U could have produced. We see that same aura of charm carried over to the definitive Switch version, with a portable mode that's graphically improved compared to its predecessor.

8.4 / 10.0 - Wanderstop
Mar 25, 2025

517 / 5,000 The way Wanderstop presents the pain caused by trauma and the healing power of a gentle, relaxing environment that, despite everything, can't completely cure it resonated deeply with me. This is a fantastic work that uses humor, tragedy, and absolutely charismatic characters to present complex realities that aren't always solvable. Depending on your own experience, you may love this game or you may find it confusing and boring, but it's worth a look.

8 / 10.0 - Look Outside
Mar 21, 2025

Despite its simple appearance, it manages to deliver an immersive and terrifying experience thanks to its great use of sound, and the grotesque, but memorable character design by François Coulombe-Fortier.

Assassin's Creed Shadows blew me away with its beautiful graphics, expansive world, and historical depiction of Japan, and ultimately won me over with its fun combat and stealth systems. It's true that it's more of the same and lacks some innovation, but that didn't ruin the fun. The tons of filler activities, imprecise controls that were sometimes frustrating, and the poor pacing of its story knocked it down a few notches, but I fervently believe it's the best game in the series in at least a decade, and I recommend it to fans of the series and lovers of Japanese history alike.

7.6 / 10.0 - Expelled!
Mar 11, 2025

Inkle never disappoints when it comes to surprising us with new ideas. Although Expelled! shares the same mechanics as Overboard!, its story is full of surprises, intriguing characters, and unexpected twists that keep us interested in solving the mystery. Few games offer a detective experience like this one. It's especially perfect for portable platforms like Switch, phones, or Steam Deck due to its short, 15-20 minute game structure.

Even 30 years after their debut, the first two games in the Gensō Suikoden franchise, with only a handful of superficial improvements, haven't let the passage of time dull them. While this isn't a perfect collection, it is the definitive way to re-experience and preserve two of the Japanese RPG gems that were lost to time.

8.2 / 10.0 - Split Fiction
Mar 4, 2025

While it follows the same vein as It Takes Two and will undoubtedly appeal to fans of that game, it's not just "more of the same." Split Fiction has some very crazy and original ideas when it comes to creating minigames and new gameplay experiences amid a story about creativity and the importance of artistic expression that's very relevant today. Not all of its ideas work, it underuses its narrative a bit, and it has some minor technical issues, but it's definitely one of the best two-player multiplayer experiences I can recommend. Don't miss it.

The card games in Duel Monsters aren't differentiated by many factors, but alternatives like dice and capsules are perfect for a change of pace. Titles with RPG touches also have their appeal. Improvements like the ability to activate a sort of "trick" to save significant amounts of grinding fit just as well as Dark Magician in Yugi's deck. Players of the Spanish versions of the games should be warned of a few translation errors.

743 / 5,000 Monster Hunter Wilds is as good as World, and that's excellent. Its gameplay systems, captivating setting, and awesome monsters work in perfect harmony to deliver an experience that can keep us hooked for hundreds of hours while we farm the gear we want and have fun with friends. The story is the best in the series so far, and while it has some thing that don't work, it's a good effort. It's a great game, but I lament the lack of innovation and willingness to take risks that the series demonstrated in Monster Hunter Rise and the loss of a certain friction that made hunts more interesting. That and the occasional performance hitches are issues, but they don't make the game any less fun.

7.5 / 10.0 - Cabernet
Feb 20, 2025

As a fan of vampire stories, Cabernet gave me exactly what I wanted: a narrative-driven RPG that let me be the kind of bloodsucker I wanted to be while dealing with the dramas of vampire society and human relationships that could change as soon as I felt a bit of bloodlust. While the character animations didn't quite convince me and I was severely plagued by constant bugs, I fell in love with this game and will play it again just to see what kind of vampire I become if I make different choices.

Despite the positive aspects, it's worth noting that the game starring Majima—despite having original mechanics—draws heavily from the previous installment. But one thing we're sure of is that this isn't the last time we'll see Shimano's crazy dog.

8 / 10.0 - Avowed
Feb 13, 2025

Avowed is a contradictory RPG. On one hand, it offers a mature narrative, a beautiful world, and fun combat. On the other, the pointless simplification of mechanics and recurring bugs mar the experience. Is it worth playing? On Xbox and via Game Pass, yes. It's a journey no Obsidian fan should miss, if only to see Eora brought to life in 3D in a different way. It's not the revolutionary title we were hoping for, but it's definitely a fun game if you focus on its captivating story.
