Donkey Kong Bananza is a fun platform game, but it suffers from a few too many issues. Exploring the beautiful worlds is a real treat at times, but the repetition sets in a bit too quickly. I think this is because the Bananza transformations are too overpowered, meaning that creative solutions can too often be solved with brute force. That doesn’t take away from the fact that I had a brilliant time playing Donkey Kong Bananza for this review. But it certainly won’t dethrone King Super Mario Odyssey.

Although the gameplay is fairly basic and the developers have opted for a safe approach, Mafia: The Old Country is an absolute must-play for anyone who loves single-player games. You don’t need to have played any previous Mafia games to become completely immersed in the story. Older gamers who are familiar with the franchise can once again count on a particularly strong narrative that has you hooked from the very first second. It comes as no surprise that performance is a weak point of this game, given that it was developed using the Unreal Engine. Performance drops during cutscenes and in certain sections of the game have resulted in a penalty. On a PlayStation 5 Pro, I expect a stable 60 frames per second when playing the game in Performance Mode.

WWE2K25 is a successful port. Both the positive and negative points from the review of the PS5 edition are also present here. The wrestling runs smoothly, with a solid frame rate of almost 60fps throughout. It looks great and plays well in handheld mode. It is just a shame that the community has been somewhat left out in the cold, as the ability to create your own wrestlers to show off online is completely missing. The lack of cross-platform play is also a missed opportunity. Nevertheless, Nintendo Switch owners with a penchant for wrestling should be pleased with the port we’ve been presented with.

Achilles: Survivor is a cracking roguelite. The mix of frantic action, clever building mechanics and mythical atmosphere makes it one of the most compelling bullet hell games I’ve played in the past year. Yes, the bosses are a bit drawn-out and the onboarding could be better, but the core gameplay is so strong. At €6.99, it’s actually a no-brainer to just pick it up.

So, when it comes to the story, Bungie has got off to a strong start with *The Edge of Fate*. The dialogue is engaging, and with the lore surrounding *The Nine*—which we’ve been piecing together bit by bit for years—we finally have a bit more information about these mysterious extradimensional beings. In short, a very interesting start! Yet this expansion is plagued by far too many issues that you wouldn’t expect from a developer of this calibre. Bugs can always occur in such a large game, but when they are so widespread that even a quest has to be temporarily removed, there is clearly work to be done. The problem certainly isn’t the content, as that is more extensive than ever. But Bungie needs to sort things out quickly if it wants to see player numbers grow again.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page. Soma is still a brilliant horror game, but it isn’t on the first-generation Nintendo Switch. You’re better off playing it on another console, where you can actually get it for a cheaper price. Soma for Nintendo is an unnecessary port that really should have been a remaster or a remake.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a game that every Souls-like fan should definitely give a go. To me, it’s particularly reminiscent of Wo Long and Sekiro. The story is intriguing, the combat is well-designed and varied, and the skill tree is extensive. In terms of Bai Wuchang’s build, you can go in many different directions, and as a player you really feel the benefits of this. Skyborn Might and Madness are additions that more or less set the game apart from its peers. However, the start is incredibly chaotic due to all the information you have to process. It’s a great shame that the performance drags my score down. Despite these drawbacks, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a game I absolutely love playing. I certainly want to give developer Lenzee a pat on the back, because for a debut, this is more than a successful title. Are you looking for something that pits you against your inner demon? Then Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is the game for you!

Killing Floor 3 is a bloody rollercoaster ride that you’ll want to experience again and again. As long as you can overlook the technical flaws. The gameplay is strong, the progression system is deep, and the co-op is unrivalled. Yet the game feels unfinished in some areas, particularly in terms of performance and audio. Fortunately, the monetisation model is fair and optional, though the cosmetics could be a bit more appealing for their price.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is really nothing more than an interesting digital tour packaged as a PowerPoint presentation with an unnecessary price tag. And that’s a shame. Because this game is actually quite un-Nintendo-like, given the transparency and openness with which the Japanese manufacturer showcases its latest product. Are you a true tech enthusiast and endlessly fascinated by how things work? Then Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is definitely for you. All other gamers would be better off keeping their €9.99 in their pockets…

In an age of remasters and remakes, Shadow Labyrinth offers a truly refreshing approach. Take a 45-year-old game and build something new on its core principles. What an original and successful approach. The game sounds great, looks good and plays smoothly. So if you’re in the mood for a Metroidvania, you certainly shouldn’t miss out on Shadow Labyrinth.

As a long-time Robocop fan, this was obviously a must-play for me. That doesn’t change the fact that Unfinished Business feels unfinished, though. The issues with Rogue City haven’t been resolved, and despite the nice addition of being able to play as ED-209 and Alex Murphy, this isn’t enough to recommend this standalone title. UB is a decent game for Robocop fans but won’t attract a new audience. What’s more, this really should have been a DLC rather than a standalone game.

Hawkman is back with a new collection of iconic levels and skaters. There’s a fair bit more creative licence in this remake bundle, featuring new levels and a revamped career mode for THPS4. Still, most of the changes are positive. The updated soundtrack (which still includes a few nostalgic hits) is brilliant and fits the series perfectly. Combine the sharp graphics, wonderfully smooth gameplay and a vast array of varied levels packed with fun missions, and you’re set for hours of skating fun.

Looking at the score, you might have your doubts, but I really did enjoy Mario Kart World. The karts feel like they’re made of steel, making them handle realistically, and the new tracks are great fun to explore. Yet, for me, disappointment prevails. The much-talked-about Free Roam Mode is tucked away behind an inconspicuous little menu, feels empty and lacks depth. The fact that you can no longer customise your own karts also feels like a step backwards to me, and the races with 24 racers are sometimes just too chaotic. Nevertheless, you’ll have hours of fun with this Mario Kart World. Even if you have to fork out 80 euros for it…

MindsEye is definitely an enjoyable adventure if you know what to expect. No, this isn’t a deep open world with a million options and intricate gameplay. It’s a simple shooter set in a cool environment that starts to feel a bit repetitive too quickly, but still delivers some fun, cinematic moments. Anyone fancying a dozen or so hours of cool sci-fi action without too many frills has come to the right place. Anyone expecting freedom of movement, unique high-tech gadgets or a skill tree will be disappointed. MindsEye takes you firmly by the hand, but certainly doesn’t drag you through a river of muck. My play sessions easily lasted several hours.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remastered – it feels good to type out that full title one last time – is a must-have for JRPG fans who’ve got a Nintendo Switch 2 at home. Are you looking for something that comes close to the older Final Fantasy games, but doesn’t necessarily have to bear the name ‘Final Fantasy’? This is the one. And you don’t really have an alternative in the Switch 2’s launch line-up at the moment, so yes, this really is the one. Lucky us! It’s also a substantial game to get your hands on, because to play through the full story – without all the side quests, optional bosses, etc. – will keep you busy for around 40 to 50 hours.

Put simply, the Switch 2 version of *Zelda: Breath of the Wild* is the best experience you can have with Link in Hyrule. The technical upgrades do exactly what they’re supposed to. You can enjoy HDR, 60fps and docked gameplay in 4K, whilst those who prefer to play in handheld mode can enjoy everything in 1080p. An extra save option is a nice bonus. The new content, Zelda Notes, is a nice addition, though I do find it a shame that you have to access it all via your mobile phone. Fortunately, you’re not obliged to do so, but still. I never thought that after a few hours of playing Zelda: BotW Switch 2 Edition, I’d become hooked on this marvellous game all over again.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach offers a stunning experience with enhanced gameplay and impressive environments. Players once again take on the role of a courier, this time in regions such as Mexico and Australia. The game introduces dynamic weather effects such as avalanches and sandstorms that make the gameplay more challenging. The storylines are on an epic scale, supported by phenomenal music and atmosphere. Graphically, the game manages to exceed all expectations. Despite its magic, the game is less accessible to a wider audience. Combat can feel clunky at times, which can slow the pace. Nevertheless, the game manages to remain true to its unique style. Hideo Kojima once again proves his mastery of game design. Death Stranding 2 is a must-play for fans of the first instalment and lovers of deep, immersive stories.

What more is there to say about Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition? It’s a high-quality game from the Nintendo Switch 2 launch line-up and inspires confidence when it comes to both third-party games and the Nintendo Switch 2’s internal power. If you haven’t played the game yet: the Nintendo Switch 2 version isn’t the ‘one game to rule them all’ – that remains the PC version (and especially when paired with a Steam Deck). It is, however, a cracking version, although the Phantom Liberty DLC is just a tad too ambitious for Nintendo’s latest console. The recommended retail price is €69.99, which could easily be €20 lower – it is, after all, a five-year-old game, two years if you include the DLC – but if you’ve got a holiday coming up and you want a solid game to sink your teeth into whilst you’re lounging under a parasol with a cocktail and a straw: you won’t be disappointed with this one.

As a complete newcomer, Tour de France 2025 has pleasantly surprised me with its visual splendour and in-depth tactical gameplay. The environments are impressive and the sound is top-notch, creating an immersive experience. However, the riders’ strange faces and the bizarre mix of languages from the spectators lining the route are minor drawbacks. Despite these quirks, the game offers a fascinating introduction to the world of virtual cycling.

Copycat combines the life of a cat with sensitive issues affecting both humans and animals, and attempts to succeed in this endeavour. Unfortunately, too many technical flaws throw a spanner in the works.
