Dune: Awakening is a successful mash-up of MMO, survival and the Dune IP. The thrill of sandworm encounters, the intense pressure of survival and the faction systems all combine to create a great experience. But the combat, particularly in melee, feels incomplete. The grind is serious, especially for solo players. For Dune fans and survival enthusiasts, there is plenty to enjoy, but don’t expect a beautiful oasis; think more of a desert full of promise.

Believe it or not, this year’s latest F1 game from Codemasters is once again a tad better than last year’s. Although, as far as I’m concerned, it could have been a bit more. Braking Point makes a welcome return, but the story remains cringe-worthy for true F1 fans. The graphical updates using LIDAR look phenomenal too, but that only applies to five circuits. Racing in the opposite direction also provides a welcome change of pace. Although that’s currently only possible on three circuits. As far as I’m concerned, the feel of the car has improved significantly thanks to the enhanced handling system. So, EA Sports F1 25 takes some serious steps forward in certain areas, but misses the chance to finish twenty seconds ahead. Will it be even better next year?

Rarely have I been left with such mixed feelings as after playing Elden Ring Nightreign. The whole idea and concept of the game is absolutely brilliant. It’s just a real shame to have to conclude that the execution is particularly poor. When you can’t play the game with one or two friends, having an enjoyable run is purely down to luck. The lack of basic multiplayer tools such as voice chat and cross-play is unacceptable to me. Although there will eventually be the option to play the game with two players, this should have been a day-one feature. To me, Elden Ring Nightreign therefore feels like a missed opportunity.

Was this Days Gone Remastered necessary? No. Would many have preferred a sequel? Absolutely. But is it still an enjoyable game six years on? You can be sure of that! It gives the original a fresh shine, which it certainly deserves. Days Gone Remastered is the perfect excuse to head back to virtual Oregon. Or to explore it for the first time and immerse yourself completely in this wonderful post-apocalyptic world. Do bear in mind, though, that you’re essentially playing a six-year-old game. But once you realise that, you’re in for hours of fun.

Star Wars Outlaws is the first open-world game in the beloved sci-fi series. Developers Massive Entertainment have succeeded in telling a unique story set in a captivating world. Kay Vess isn’t the most interesting character ever, but her story is certainly compelling enough to keep you entertained for over 25 hours. And that’s without the many side missions I skipped for this review. The gameplay can become rather repetitive after a while. I can’t even tell you how many kilometres of air ducts I’ve crawled through or how many switches I’ve rhythmically flicked. But despite everything, Star Wars Outlaws has turned out to be a game that every fan simply must play.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a magnificent tribute to the Nintendo Switch. It’s a miracle, yes, that this console can still conjure up such a stunning game on its screen.
