6 / 10.0 - Gastro Force
Sep 8, 2023

Gastro Force is a fairly simplistic shooter. The game offers a mix of combinations of various shooters, including Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM. The claustrophobic feel comes from Wolfenstein and the monsters and graphics seem to lean more towards DOOM. The gameplay itself is largely the same, although here you have quite large levels and you can open a map with which you can immediately see which direction you should go. The secret rooms, the key cards, they are all well-known components. It is clear that the game costs less than 10 Euro and that is certainly not too much for what you get. However, the game does not do anything special, so you will certainly not be blown away in terms of creativity. In addition, the game lacks refinement in terms of controls and gameplay, which means the game does not score more than adequate.

Besides dodging and making deadzone circles, I actually got bored pretty quickly with this game. The 25 challenges that you can achieve are in themselves much of the same and the arcade mode actually brings little extra. Quantum: Recharged is therefore extremely fast in repetition, so that you have seen the concept quite quickly. In addition, the level design and gameplay are kept uninspired by never making additions or adjustments. In itself, the game is fun for about 2-3 hours, but I'm not surprised if you've seen it before then.

4.5 / 10.0 - Farworld Pioneers
Aug 14, 2023

After you have put some hours into the game, Farworld Pioneers really comes to life. Buildings and elements get bigger and weapons get more extreme. You build almost entire castles that look futuristic. Your colony grows and enemies build up more, whether or not you have to work together more. However, for me this was already over fast because of the critical points of the game which really ruin it. On the PC the game was already a slightly problematic game, on the console it is literally chaos. The controls and gameplay are very bad, the graphics are cluttered and with hanging screens every now and then you are often afraid that the game will crash. Farworld Pioneers is therefore a game that you have to bite through and takes a lot of time to get to the good core of the concept.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the perfect PC port of a great game if you own the latest hardware and have never played the game. The studio Nixxes has delivered great work and this is the quality you expect from Sony. Every minute in this game is of extremely high quality and Ratchet & Clank series still guarantees a good experience. This is a game you use to showcase your latest hardware. But if you don't own the latest hardware, the question quickly arises whether this is a game where an upgrade makes sense or whether the purchase of the title is even worthwhile.

8 / 10.0 - REPLIKATOR
Jul 17, 2023

After spending many hours on REPLIKATOR I personally notice that the game has 2 sides; One side is very positive. I'm mainly talking about the gameplay, which is accessible, yet challenging, and the other side is the light repetition that quickly plays up. At some point you will have seen the boarding of the rooms and the emptying of them. It is also a pity that you have to start the game over and over again when you die. It would have been more fun if the roguelike gameplay had an alternative option to just be able to replay the levels until the final boss. You do notice that you are getting further and further, but that sometimes takes too long to remain really interesting. However, REPLIKATOR is a unique title that can certainly be an excellent filler for the empty hours.

6.5 / 10.0 - REMEDIUM: Sentinels
Jul 17, 2023

All in all, I had fun with this game. The first hours are quite addictive and you actually want to constantly try to improve your previous round. Collecting in-game scrap is too slow and you are only really rewarded when you manage to complete a level. So if you get stuck at a certain point, you will hang around in the same boat for quite a while, so that at some point you will start to lose motivation. However, the challenge is not so great that it becomes demotivating and you don't get any further. In addition, after about 5 hours you have seen the gameplay mechanics, however simplistic they may be. It is therefore a wonder that people manage to keep you busy for such a long time with just one button in terms of basic control.

8.7 / 10.0 - F1 23
Jun 16, 2023

Every year the question is how good F1 has become again, but again this year they manage to outdo themselves at Codemasters. The game has some innovation due to the slightly changed interface, the return of the story mode and the addition of F1 World. Above all, F1 World brings many challenges that will make you want to return. The career mode, however, brings very few new features, but is still rock solid. The gameplay changes such as the excessive oversteer takes some getting used to, but eventually brings a lot more realism. I take for granted the poor acting and voice-overs, but they bring a somewhat childish character to the game. However, F1 23 is again a good step forward and especially with the many challenges that have been added, great value for money.

You will often see that the lesser-known titles often score the best. Earlier we saw how cool the game Children of Silentown was, and this is just such a title. With a big crash in the middle part, I could enjoy myself for hours with this game. There isn't a lot of challenge in the puzzles, but I had a great time with the light platform elements in combination with the daily activities and adventures you experience. The animals that serve as NPCs are attractively designed and the game's graphics are beautifully put together. The fact that there is still some atmosphere missing in terms of audio should not be such a disaster. The many loading times that pass you by are a blemish on the high quality that they try to bring. The game mainly brings relaxation and will never put the pressure too high. Restful enjoyment is perhaps the most important thing here and it certainly succeeds.

Toodee and Topdee is a unique game that actually does almost everything right in its simplicity. It's nice that you can go both co-op and alone in the many levels of the game. In terms of replay value, you may not be able to finish the game again, but if you want you can also try to collect all the ladybugs that walk through the levels. Each chapter brings its new features, including blocks that fall down, or buttons that bring up or remove certain platforms. The bosses are also quite challenging, but by adjusting the difficulty you can still overcome each level quite easily. It is therefore up to the player to determine the balance, although the contrast between those difficulties is quite large.

7.8 / 10.0 - LEGO 2K Drive
May 22, 2023

It is difficult to say whether this game is for adults or for children. This game is just too difficult and too extensive for the really small kids, and just too easy for adults. I therefore think that they have tried to find a middle ground that is just not balanced enough for any target group. You notice during AI races that you often get it thrown in the last round and you will still be able to win quite easily with some boosts and power-ups. LEGO 2K Drive, however, is a refreshing concept that especially feels very varied. The racing that is interspersed with chases, then checkpoint races, then bomb-dodging challenges constantly feels quite enjoyable.

What makes this game so characteristic are especially the super cheerful and colorful graphics and the good background music that manages to remain varied, but also the same. The seasons are beautifully depicted with falling leaves, snow, growing leaves on the trees and then the sun that comes up again. The UI is well-arranged and clear, although selecting the right character is sometimes a chore that takes too much time. In terms of content, the game seems hefty with 25 quests to choose from, but because the gameplay is so simple and simplistic, you'll probably have seen the game before. Minabo is therefore a game that you can play through in between and then leave it for a while, to be able to pick it up again later. The concept is unique and refreshing, but also so monotonous that it could get boring rather quickly. All in all, I certainly don't want to put the game in too negative a light, given the mainly positive undertone that it manages to radiate as far as I'm concerned. In addition, it even manages to arouse a slight moral sense in me, which is actually quite special for such a playful title as this one. I would say: Give it a chance and live that life and get the most out of it! Because it's short…

6.3 / 10.0 - Varney Lake
Apr 29, 2023

After about 2 hours when the credits come, you can only really judge whether Varney Lake has been worth it and the 10 Euro rolls out of your pocket or whether you give a lot for that money in return. As far as I'm concerned, the story is a lot more accessible and interesting than that of Mothmen and I think casual players will find this game better than its predecessor. Although there are references, you do not necessarily have to have played the first part. However, there are fewer options that really influence the story.

7 / 10.0 - Dogfight
Apr 11, 2023

When we talk about Dogfight, the game is 'fine', nothing more than that. You can set the game as hard or easy as desired, so not only avid action-shooter fans will appreciate the game, but also entry-level players. In terms of story, they have packaged it nicely with light-joking texts and visuals.

Technically and in terms of gameplay you can say that this game could be developed within a week. It could have been a school project because there is not much depth to be found in this game, but that is not necessary. This is the first real game that my offspring could digest well and easily at a still quite young age when even holding a controller will be difficult enough. Moving the stick and clicking the cross is almost enough and already provides a lot of enjoyment. It was therefore a fight when I had to grab the controller to experience the gameplay myself.

I was not disappointed with how nicely Postal 4 is ultimately playable on the console, because I expected much worse given the previous reviews of the PC version. Still, you can say that the gameplay is just not very good, the shitty humor is actually too bad that it isn't funny, and the graphics are so disappointing that you get the impression that you are playing GTA 3 (with all due respect). are playing. Shadows look ugly, characters look hollow and dead, interfaces are super chaotic. Environments are all a bit similar and there's just no atmosphere at all because people walk around like dead souls and get pissed all over them like it's perfectly normal.

Gigantosaurus: Dino Kart is a very limited game, especially in terms of content. You actually only have 2 game modes; Single-player and split-screen driving on the different tracks. Unfortunately, online is not possible and I do not expect any addition to this in the future. The adventure mode is actually nothing and is identical to the race mode, only you complete several races in one zip. For a price of half a triple A game you can expect a bit more, to be honest. The game is certainly accessible and not too difficult for the young players. My child (4 years old) was still a bit too young for the game, but in principle every child from the age of 6 can get started with this. Had the game been a bit more atmospheric, I could have overlooked the low amount of content, but because there are a few things missing in that regard, I would only recommend this game if it ends up in the budget bins.

7.2 / 10.0 - Wild Hearts
Feb 20, 2023

Wild Hearts is a must-play game. The atmosphere is typically Japanese, just like the unwieldy gameplay and combat. Also graphically you will not be impressed by this game, just like the story that fades quite a bit in the gameplay. However, this one is interesting and reasonably tactical. The game can also go quite deep in terms of RPG elements and you really have to delve into it and encourage you not to just figure everything out after an hour, because that is not possible. You will therefore spend many hours dissecting all possibilities and details. If you're not into that then this isn't the game for you. It's nice that you can play online, even cross-play, so you'll have regular help in boss fights, or bosses can be distracted by other players. We take for granted that the game looks quite dated graphically

It's been a long time since a game kept me glued to the TV for so many hours in a row and that's actually for a game that is quite simple in terms of RPG elements and gameplay. Each chapter lasts an hour and with 12 chapters you can calculate it. Add to that some optional side quests and you have a few extra hours. From the first minute you notice that the tension is already good, but it helps when you close the curtains, turn up the sound and especially play alone. The atmosphere is the strong point of Dead Space
