Critic Reviews for Darkest Dungeon II
In early access, Darkest Dungeon 2 has enough new and interesting ideas that it feels like more than a retread of the original, but they're there's a lot of work to be done to refine it into something that holds a torch to the original.
For now, Darkest Dungeon 2 doesn't have as much depth as its illustrious big brother, but the app seems well on its way to following the same path. It explores another facet of roguelike while retaining its atypical mechanics. The gameplay is still as fine and the difficulty as brutal as exhilarating.

Darkest Dungeon II is a faithful sequel that pays respect to the original while still evolving on many mechanics. While the runs can take a while and the character dialogue in battles can be annoying, it still features an impressive tone and excitement in each twist and turn that it can bring.
In the transferral to true roguelike, Darkest Dungeon 2 has got a little lost in the woods. But from what I've glimpsed through the trees, it'll be a handsome coach when it finally arrives, done and dusky. I'll happily hop aboard then.
