While like all sports, Lacrosse may not be for everyone but you should really look into it. Especially if you like Hockey. With multiple modes and solid fast paced gameplay, Casey Powell’s Lacrosse will keep you occupied for either hours at a time or simply for a few quick exhibition matches with friends before heading off to do something else for the evening.
Dragon’s Crown Pro is a prime example of what a couch co-oped remake should be like. The amazingly designed system is just as good now as it back back in 2013 and because of the newer hardware it runs even smoother. If you already have it? It’s really up to you but fans of the title will want to see this masterpiece in its new glory. For everyone else, Dragon’s Crown Pro is exactly what a Brawler should aspire to be with plenty of customizations and amazing artwork to go with it.
After having recently taken Vermintide 2 for a spin during their closed beta any worries that I may have had for the newest edition were put to rest like that latest Slaven horde that came calling for our heroes' blood. Equipped once again with swords, guns, crossbows, hammers and explosives, take control of the group of five heroes as four of them head out into crazy missions with less than friendly odds of survival.
Starting off in your spaceship, you have the choice of three characters that all specialize in different stats. You have all-rounder who even starts off with a key to unlock chests, a melee based tank and a long ranged specialist. Each on top of their stats have different special abilities which allows for a bit of versatility in your choices. Personal preference will always win the day however each was well enough designed.
If you've been been needing some lighthearted dungeon crawling or have already played the localised sequel and want to know how the series began, than you'll appreciate this one a great deal.
Before getting into anything gameplay specific, the concept behind this turned based strategy is a good one. While maybe not being the most original as most science fiction has us blowing up the planet or ourselves in one fashion or another, Post Human W.A.R is all about the creatures and the robots that we left behind after we died out. The ensuing turf war? It's good.
Some jobs are just too crazy to attempt but what kind of thief would you be though if you didn't jump on the chance for even more notoriety? Teriel is one of these thieves and while the job itself was pulled off without a hitch, something didn't quite go according to plan. Now stuck with a spirit being inside of his mechanical retina he's got a whole new set of problems to deal with.
Quality “old schooled” RPGs are becoming fewer and farther between as the more open world and “immersive” styles take over. Semisoft’s kickstarted Legrand Legacy: Tale of the Fatebound is a nod to that previous level of quality which should make fans of the late PS2 / early PS3 era feel right at home alongside those of Mistwalker’s Lost Odyssey.
With Richard now having reviewed the original two entries of Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire on the PS4 and Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion on both the Vita and the PS4, it was my turn on the PC version that combined the two into a single title. With the options to either ignite the flames of rebellion or tackle the sins set ahead of you, I found myself often undecided as to how I felt about the adventures and the package as a whole.
Overall SpellForce 3 is a great addition to the series. With an engaging storyline, interesting characters and gameplay mechanics it manages to straddle the line between genuine RPG and RTS better than most other attempts, which generally end up strongly weighted one way or another.
Enter the Gungeon for me was some brilliant roguelike dungeon crawling but it was lacking something important. For a title offering coop you could only ever coop with one person and they couldn't choose their class. Genetic Disaster by Team8 Studios fixes this issue with four player coop in its own level of crazy roguelike style. Just beware of the friendly fire!
The Deer God is an interesting take on the platforming genre. After an accident while out hunting, you are reincarnated as a deer and must now live out your life as one for as long as you can. With treacherous terrain, plenty of other wildlife that would eat you and more hunters that are out to shoot you, expect to restart as a fawn several times.
Over the years I’ve had the chance to experience a lot of strategy titles but none have quite been like this one. Tattoo Girls from Sushi Typhoon Games and NISA risks staying very niche not because of the gameplay but because of the ideas behind it. That said, it’s a good one.
Overall I found Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package better put together than the original release.
Robert was a big fan of Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock on the PC and there's no much of a question as to why. Slitherine is a name that already boasts confidence and with them behind Black Lab Games, the first Cylon War in Battlestar's history was something to experience. Put in charge of a very formidable installation, welcome to a deadlocked situation which will often have you questioning if what you just did was actually a good decision.
For the last few years Rhythm games have been all the rage especially in social gatherings with the likes of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Before all of that however, Harmonix made two incredible, yet cult classic, entries to the PS2. Those were Frequency and Amplitude which catered to lovers of Techno and Trace. Superbeat: Xonic for me brings that love back again to today (Nick’s review of the PSV version) with a slew of tracks that I had never heard yet were enjoyable to go through with controls that will over time really test your manual dexterity.
With Richard having enjoyed and previewed Oh My Godheads back in April I’ve been looking forward to getting my own hands on it. Now having had that chance, with Richard’s review of the PC version incoming, I took the Xbox version for a spin with my brother Marc and my friend Louis for some rather interesting versus matches.
Assault Android Cactus has been out for a while now on the PSN and Steam with stellar reviews and has now launched on the XB1 with specific graphic content for the Xbox One X. So what's it all about? I'm glad you asked. You see when an interstellar police officer with no regards for the rules decides to crash right through the hull of a ship all mayhem ensues. Taking your twin-stick controller in hand for some very fast paced Bullet Hell and Shoot ‘Em Up Arcade action, you and up to three others get to unleash all hell!
With a great combat system that is supported by a good deal of lighthearted storytelling, this is an action RPG that people who have enjoyed games brought on by Nihon Falcom's recent rise in prominence in the west shouldn't miss out.
Empyre: Lords of the Sea Gates has a lot of potential but unfortunately it's made so clumsily that it is just painful to actually play.
