Frankly, Double Pug Switch is just not a fun game. It's meant to be challenging, but the worst of this comes from sticky controls and a buggy game. Coupled with the intentional disregard for the safety of cute things, this is a game which ends up infuriating. Maybe it plays better on the PC or other consoles, but I cannot in good faith recommend it for Switch.

Double Pug Switch might be frustrating at times but there’s still an enjoyable experience here. Bringing us fun but basic gameplay, it introduces one of gaming’s more adorable protagonists in a light-hearted adventure, though it won’t offer platforming fans anything particularly ground-breaking. With its lower price point, there isn’t much risk here if you're a fan of runners and, as such, it comes with a cautious recommendation.

Double Pug Switch is a challenging platformer, short but sweet, where you'll find yourself saying, "just one more level!" The controls are easy to learn and hold a fun challenge that will keep you addicted. Multiple checkpoints are a saving grace.

If you’re up for a challenge, then Double Pug Switch certainly does offer that. It’s nicely presented, too; the short animated story scenes telling the tale of Otis, Whiskers and the scientist, are a welcome touch. As are the purely cosmetic hats you can place on Otis’ little puggy head. It’s short and utterly brutish in its difficulty, but if you like equal amounts of cuteness and cruelty in your games, then look no further. Especially considering its pocket-money price.

Double Pug Switch using interesting ideas with only two buttons, but unfortunately many times it does not provide complete control on the playable character. The color scheme of the game environments is unique and it looks great along game’s exciting music. However, the game fails to implement the rest of its ideas and has problems in the art design, timing for music, and telling a good story. This game is offered to gamers who are interested in more difficult challenges than SoulsBorne style titles And those who have patient enough to not break the keyboard or controller.

You’ll need dogged determination and the reflexes of a cat to get anything out of Double Pug Switch. It’s inventive dimension switching mechanic is lost in a sea of spikes and overtly difficult levels that are tough to fur-give.

Even when an indie game doesn’t turn out to be amazing, it’s amazing that we have so many indie games. After all, would we be able to define the good games without the stinkers? It has a few good ideas, but they aren’t enough to turn the game into an enjoyable experience. With the smallest semblance of a plot, a character that feels too heavy and imprecise, and just plain odd design choices, Double Pug Switch is one indie platformer you’re better off missing.

Double Pug Switch is an excellent product that reaches entirely its modest goals with its apparent simplicity. The player will engage in a trial and error gameplay of sorts, and they will have to try and try again the levels but they will do so in a game that perfectly combines the challenge side to the exciting one, although it being a simple 2D platform.

There are games with challenging designs and there are games with unfair difficulties, but then there are titles like Double Pug Switch which is just torture.

While certainly sporting a cute set of characters and overall look there's not too much easygoing once you dig in for a few stages in this endless runner of sorts...
