The fishing role-playing game Moonglow Bay from indie developer Bunnyhug can safely be described as a mix of Minecraft and Animal Crossing. Players of both titles will quickly find their way around the small fishing village and, in my case, won't want to put the Switch down. As a true angler, I am of course delighted that the game is largely about fishing, including the utilisation of fish. I also think it's great that there are real-life species in this title as well as imaginary fish species. I don't see the fact that a large part of the game takes place on the water as a point of criticism, because the game world is surprisingly extensive and, in addition to different fish, also awaits brave anglers with changing weather conditions. The creative team behind Bunnyhug has definitely increased the fanbase by releasing the game on the missing platforms and will bring a smile to the faces of many new players.

Exploring the seas to find new fish, complete quests, and uncover the game’s overarching mystery is never tiresome as Moonglow Bay’s ambiance and gameplay combine for a relaxing experience. It’s a lovely game all around with a few small but ultimately insignificant complaints that could be lodged. Truly, dive into Moonglow Bay and bask in its sweet serenity.

Although there is a lot to be done in Moonglow Bay, it is important to embrace the wisdom of the protagonist's white hair and enjoy the journey savoring each moment, without letting yourself get caught up in the rush and agitation. The beauty of this game is in the details, whether the charming drawings in the blue notebook or even the peculiar look that mixes the pixelated style with 3D in cozy colors. The title is a great choice for those who love games with fishing mechanics and love touching stories.

Moonglow Bay is a fun and relaxing game that I found very rewarding to play, there's a huge variety of things to do in this game so I never get tired of it. Every day I play I can't wait to go back and see what monster-sized fish I manage to catch and see what kind of new dishes I get to create in the kitchen.

A little frustrating in places, but Moonglow Bay is mostly a chill fishing RPG that digs into its themes of community, resilience and rebuilding in surprising and consistently interesting ways.

The slow pace and gentle yet solemn storytelling — with lots of bright, joyous moments, too — is delightful, and I’m eager to learn more about Moonglow Bay and its people, in a town shaped as much by fishing as it is by grief.

If game quality is represented by the depth of the ocean, then Moonglow Bay goes down deep, without quite touching the seafloor.

Moonglow Bay tells a tale of a quaint town, with people afraid to go into the sea mixed with a story about grief. But, it also has lots of feel-good themes of resilience and community spirit. While the game could do with a little more work in some areas, it is still an enjoyable game to play. And the icing on the cake is, yes, you can pet Muffin the dog as many times as you want to!

You wouldn't think a fishing game, of all things, as being cuddly and cozy and inviting -- but Moonglow Bay proves that it's not just possible, it's also pretty fun.
