Loopmancer doesn't get enough right to make up for its shortcomings, but certainly has some bright spots that roguelike enthusiasts will appreciate.

Loopmancer has all the hallmarks for a phenomenal game, but is just let down by some mechanical issues and a middling story. It’s stellar visual design will reel you into its Cyberpunk world and its fast-paced combat will hook you into trying out even more outlandish varieties of weapons. Unlike most dystopian cities, the rot only occurs at the top and in patches, leaving a healthy and exciting core to explore for a few loops. Just don’t look at the faces, even Dredd couldn’t make them any more hideous.

It's hard to say that Loopmancer has brought any innovation to the roguelike genre, but it tries its best. The branching and decision-making parts of the story are pretty good, but there are lots of places where it falls short in terms of narration.

Loopmancer is pure action at the service of a player who wants to exalt himself in violence. It is a game that basks in its viscerality and bizarreness and does not care about its imperfections: but those who have the pad in their hands notice it! And it's a bit of a shame, because if certain gameplay elements had been weighed with the balance and not cut with the cleaver, it would have been practically indispensable.

Loopmancer has some nifty concepts and flashy combat. However, it's also bogged down by some simplified mechanics and a hammy narrative.

Loopmancer is an action-packed, atmospheric detective mystery that works best in the heat of combat, but its roguelike elements could use some work.

Loopmancer will be repetitive for a very long time, but after collecting e-Coins and Cores will eventually become far too easy. The game has a great foundation but needs tweaks to balance performance and level generations. Maybe with three to six months of more work and patch updates, Loopmancer will become a side-scrolling classic.

Loopmancer has difficulty committing to the hallmarks of better roguelites, making progression a chore. But past the questionable localization and writing is an action-focused platformer with personality and a few good ideas.

The rogue-lite gameplay and the use of time loops make Loopmancer a game you can't get enough of. With a cyberpunk theme, it also contains elements that resonate with Chinese players. It offers more than 10 hours of great action game experience.

Loopmancer is a good game for gamers who want a very specific experience: a mix of action and rogue ideas that tells a cyberpunk-themed detective story. The combat mechanics require time to master and there are solid challenges to engage with. The rogue aspects are a little underdeveloped and it feels like unlocking weapons requires too much money.

Loopmancer is like a great cover of a classic song, in 2D action-platformer roguelite form. It may not be very creative, but it's excellent and highly replayable nonetheless.
