Intrepid Izzy takes aim at both those nostalgic for games of 30 years ago and a younger crowd.  It’s not that long and no part of it is truly terrible. If you’re in the mood for a light and easy action platformer, then this one might be up your alley.

With its somewhat “Flash game” looks and middling platforming this isn’t a but game, but it’s also not very notable

It's really nice to come across games like Intrepid Izzy from time to time. Simple, unpretentious, and fun and well-done enough to be enjoyed without any complications or ups and downs. A nice metroidvania with the peculiarity of putting beat'em up against the enemies, and a costume and power management system from our bedroom. There are no great heights, but also no falls, everything works as it should in this Dreamcast game, which other systems have also earned to enjoy.

Solid platforming and brilliant boss encounters more than make up for this Metroidvania's minor irritations.

Intrepid Izzy is a clear labor of love that looks great and plays well, although minor flaws stop it from being perfect. If you enjoy Shantae's adventures, this is a nice homage to that series.

For me, Intrepid Izzy is a good retro-inspired title. Not all of its mechanics totally hit the mark, yet it still manages to pull off an experience that will keep you hooked through the adventure. The exploration can get a bit dull with tedious backtracking, and the brawling combat can feel tricky in places. But these shortcomings are made up thanks to the good pacing of the game and little surprises which will have you hooked to the very end. Intrepid Izzy is well worth sinking time into if you love your retro or just fancy a solid adventure.
