Critic Reviews for Hubris
Hubris' narrative isn't anything to write back to Earth about, but its movement and graphics are both good enough to make it a worthwhile entry into the annals of VR gaming.
Altogether, I found Hubris to be raising the bar for an indie action adventure. It’s clearly punching way above its weight. If you have been waiting for a true Half-Life: Alyx contender in terms of production value, Hubris might not be exactly on that level. However, it is definitely worth picking up and you will not be disappointed.
Hubris VR is a game well worth picking up if your PC can handle it. Its story serves its purpose, but the beautiful graphics, and engaging gameplay make it a standout title in the VR space. As I said earlier there may be aspects I would have liked to see tightened up, but these are small gripes for a product that has really delivered on its vision. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or new to VR, you’ll find plenty to love.
Once you get over that initial wow factor that Hubris brings in, with one of the most beautiful and detailed worlds in VR to date, it doesn’t offer much else. The combat is shallow, the exploration can be inconsistent, and the story isn’t engaging at all. If all you want is to see what VR is truly capable of on a technical scale, then it might be worth picking up on sale. Or if the updates continue and the game is keeps improving.
Hubris is a visually stunning VR game, hampered by technical issues that break immersion. Despite its beauty, the technical flaws like frame drops and pop-ups might put off less experienced players. Once you get past these issues, it's quite enjoyable. Available on Meta Quest 2 and PSVR 2.

Hubris VR is one of those rare titles that sits comfortably in the upper echelons of AA games that don’t quite make it to AAA status. Its solid gameplay and beautifully constructed set pieces will offer you a fun couple of sessions to blast through them. What it’s lacking in the audio department, the gameplay more than makes up for. If you like action adventure experiences, this a game you’ll want to consider.
