Teslagrad 2 is a fantastic adventure that's over way too soon. The puzzles and platforming are some of the best in the genre, but given your breadth of moves the game doesn't come close to fully exploring what it can do.

Teslagrad 2 is a testament to iterative design coming into play in making a sequel an even better time than what came before it. The first game was already ridiculously smart and downright a blast, and it’s (pun intended) shocking to see how well Rain Games has made this sequel an even stronger game. Teslagrad 2 isn’t to be missed and is a contender for my list of top games of 2023, no doubt.

Even with a foggy narrative, the feeling of mystery and wonder is ever-present and the player is encouraged to be creative and take chances. Teslagrad 2 takes what made the first game a unique puzzle platformer and expands on almost every front of it. While there is a bit of room for improvement in the overall control scheme and physics engine, it stands out in a flooded genre.

Ultimately, Teslagrad 2 is an agreeable successor with satisfying traversal and enjoyably challenging puzzles and boss fights. But with a short runtime and a lack of hints and guidance it fails to really improve upon its predecessor. If you enjoyed Teslagrad and are looking for more of the same, this sequel will suffice.

Teslagrad 2's momentum-based platforming makes for speedy fun, even if it doesn't quite have the same spark as its predecessor.
