Critic Reviews for Devilian
Devilian doesn't ask for much, and delivers just enough to pass the time.
Devilian's combat makes it a totally competent action-RPG/MMO.
The constant pull to repeat a set of activities to see numbers go up permeates every game like Devilian. Even now, I'm thinking about running a few more dungeons and seeing if I can't get some Heroic gear out of it. But almost any game with loot will make you want more of it, so hitting that part of the brain's reward center isn't enough to make for a good game.
Devilian is a well functioning MMO/ARPG but has nothing to set it apart from others, except possibly visuals. The real money elements aren't intrusive and wont force you to spend money, which is always a positive.
Devilian is free to play, and is infinitely better than most other imported MMOARPGs on the market right now. If not having an MMO world isn't a deal breaker, you might be better off with Diablo 3 or Path of Exile. But if you've always wished TERA and Diablo would just make a baby and let you have a Corgi pet, then this is the game for you.
Devilian is a game that will most likely split people into a hate and love camp, with a few in the middle persons. It is a great mix of MMO and ARPG taking the standard questing and dungeons system from MMOs and fast paced gameplay from ARPGs. While the questing design do need a full makeover, the gameplay manages to keep the quest design from brining the game down. I will continue playing Devilian and hope that microtransactions manages to mainly keep on the cosmetic level. Being a free to play game I would recommend players whom like ARPG to give Devilian a try, it might be something you get hooked on.
