Critic Reviews for Sacre Bleu
Yes, it can be difficult at times, but it’s not a very punishing game, so you will find yourself cruising through Bastille and following the story, as you try to figure out how it all comes to an end. Plus, if you really want to test yourself, there are modifiers, secrets and speedruns to check out as well!
Finishing the levels in Sacre Bleu is enjoyable enough but when you throw in its clever scoring system, you're left with a ton of replay value. ⚜️
Sacre Bleu is a 2D Action Platformer with challenging platforming and navigation and fast-paced combat. The charming portrayal of the French Revolution creates the perfect backdrop for the unapologetic fun and excitement that the game offers.
Sacre Bleu is a silly but lighthearted adventure with some inventive platforming and level design. I loved how the game managed to progressively teach me all of its mechanics through some organic difficulty growth, and also gave me reasons to replay each level by adding little secrets and unlockables here and there. It’s just occasionally hampered by some less than spectacular combat sections, but the puzzle-solving more than makes up for it. At the end of the day, even if it’s not spectacular, it’s a pretty fun game, of très bonne qualité.
Sacre Bleu is an engaging platformer with absolutely wonderful locomotion, and just the right amount of challenge for genre veterans.
Unfortunately, the Sacre Bleu experience is too uneven. Technical issues, bland design choices, and a lackluster story make it a chore to play.
Come to Sacre Bleu looking for an above-average, speed-focused platformer with some extremely satisfying movement, and I basically guarantee you’re in for a good time, despite all the technical issues doing their best to drag you down. It won’t change your life, but it’ll make for a good weekend, and potentially much more than that if you’re the type to get swept up in speedrunning.
