Critic Reviews for Golden Tee Arcade Classics

But we still like having these games readily available on contemporary hardware. The CRT filters included are outstanding, and this being a Digital Extremes joint, you get tons of bonus materials, like the original arcade flyers to flick through in their entirety.

Golden Tee Arcade Classics is a decent package with some awkward controls. These games have a place in history, and it is great to finally see them come to modern consoles, but the controls are going to throw off a whole new generation of players.

Golden Tee Arcade Classics is 6 Golden Tee games, a bowling game, and a shuffleboard game. It has the same exact feel as the arcade. The controls feel wonky without a trackball, and there is no online play. A faithful recreation, which makes this a little dated, and a little under par.

For under $30 you receive eight full arcade titles. The selection is impressive, but the lack of a true trackball control and the persistent dead-zone issues can diminish the fun. With minor tweaks to stick sensitivity and dead-zone handling, this collection could surpass the classic 2000 PlayStation release. A few updates, perhaps adding the original 1989 Golden Tee, could cement its place as the definitive home experience.
