Critic Reviews for Planetbase
Planetbase is unforgiving but rewarding take on building a Mars colony
If you're a fan of strategic management games, you have to give Planetbase a look. It's very good value for money. And who knows? Maybe you will enjoy the added challenge missions they throw in more than I did. Either way, Planetbase is well worth your attention.
Planetbase is a nice change of pace from the usual building simulators as the space environment brings up new challenges.
Planetbase has a handful of minor flaws, but the overall presentation is excellent despite these tiny problems. A fun game for people who like building and managing communities.
While Planetbase feels quite complex it can also feel quite constrained, but that's part of the experience. Unable to build freely on the planet like we would here on Earth, you have to be aware of everything from power consumption to making sure your air locks are placed properly to maximize efficiency. Most of the time you're constantly struggling to survive, but once you hit that sweet spot of having a working base with strong resource production, that's where Planetbase really gets going.
Planetbase has all the requirements of a top simulation experience, but the overbearing difficulty and need for perfection throughout makes this title feel more like a chore than anything else.
Planetbase is good, and I'll never complain about having more simulators to play on my PlayStation.
Planetbase is a great resource management/colony simulation game. It's very easy to get overwhelmed by the options and processes on hand but if you stick with it then you will get used to the mechanics and soon be running a successful colony. One thing you have to remember is, it isn't a race – there is no time limit and the main goal is to survive. So, take your time and enjoy the experience as you watch your colony grow both bigger and stronger.
