Mistfall Hunter is a great time on Xbox Series X/S and fantastic fun as a squad of three. If you’re a fan of extraction shooters, then you may appreciate the difference in this game. It’s atmospheric and can be tense, especially when encountering other solo players or squads. Its satisfying combat and runs that have that constant risk in return for reward are what keep the gameplay loop satisfying. The developers have recently unveiled a compelling roadmap that should keep things interesting. Overall, it’s well polished and will keep you coming back for countless hours if you love the concept of diving in and extracting loot and going back for more.

Mistfall Hunter isn't perfect. However, if you can look past a few design choices, you'll find a rewarding adventure that puts a unique spin on the extraction genre.

Mistfall Hunter is an intriguing, albeit imperfect, title that manages to capture the essence of the tension found in extraction games, applying it to an atmospheric medieval fantasy world.

This starting point for Mistfall Hunter is very strong. A satisfying and addictive gameplay loop, interesting combat and a visually striking dark fantasy world make this an exciting multipler/co-op experience already, and I’m curious to see how it evolves from here.

Mistfall Hunter's blend of Soulslike combat and extraction gameplay shouldn't work on paper, but Bellring Games has found a compelling middle ground that delivers addictive progression and tense PvPvE encounters. While its technical issues and uneven class balance leave room for improvement, the game lays a strong foundation for a live-service adventure with plenty of long-term potential. The mist hasn't lifted just yet, but I can already see what's waiting on the other side.

There is a fascinating world here packed with deep progression and intense combat that makes it worth checking out, and the extraction game genre is far from dead.
