It’s disappointing that even in the three and a half hours I spent making my way through Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?!’s story, I was validated in feeling like I’d seen everything after my third or fourth romp around its small open-world. While I admire the modest scope that Strange Scaffold set out to achieve with this tightly focused premise, its structure is quickly burdened by a lack of variety.

As much as I wanted to like Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World, the experience didn’t deliver on the premise’s fun. Shallow gameplay that doesn’t evolve paired with a bland narrative makes even this short experience feel like a drag. It’s not actively offensive, nor is the gameplay awful, but it simply doesn’t have enough to support its already simple premise.

Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is a neat palate cleanser, but it’s decidedly short and not something you’ll be itching to play through again right away. While there’s measures to gate progression, I suspect there might be ways to get around that and would be a cool to see speedran at Games Done Quick. I love short experiences, but I think there’s so much more to do here that it ends up being full of missed opportunities. Even though this is built on the back of a meme and trope, Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is certainly a fun romp for the several hours it lasts.

Truck-kun Is Supporting Me From Another World?! is a fun, ridiculous subversion of the classic isekai trope that doesn't slow down.

The concept of running people over to turn them into enemies of an isekai heroine is as absurd as it is fitting for an adventure as funny and over-the-top as Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World. This indie game is short and doesn't boast impressive technical aspects, but it offers tons of fun and very likeable characters that serve as a perfect parody of the 'isekai' genre that currently saturates the world of manga and anime.
