Yet Another Zombie Survivors is a great game because it understands the pleasures of simplicity. There’s no need for grand ambitions, sprawling worlds, or a dozen systems fighting for the player’s attention. Instead, here’s a bunch of zombie-apocalypse hero archetypes, an absurd number of zombies, some increasingly ridiculous weapons, and a handful of upgrades. Done. And everybody’s happy. This survivor-like knows exactly what it wants to be, doubles (and triples) down on it, and simply lets you have fun.

While Yet Another Zombie Survivors doesn’t do much to reinvent the Bullet Heaven formula, it still offers something unique thanks to its memorable cast of characters and charming, comic-book-inspired style. The progression can become a grind, and genre veterans may not find many surprises. Still, for fans looking for a polished and personality-filled entry in the genre, it’s an easy recommendation.

If you’re looking for a different breed of survivors-like, do give Yet Another Zombie Survivors a chance. Its gory undead theme and squad-based gameplay make for a fun and unique twist on the genre, with more than enough content and gameplay variations to last quite some hours. It doesn’t have the obscene amount of content of Vampire Survivors, nor the extreme depth of Soulstone Survivors, and and form of co-op or multiplayer, local or online, is also missing. Still, this is one bullet heaven not to miss for fans of the genre!

I’m pretty sure at this point I should just name my Steam Deck the Roguelite Deck. Yet Another Zombie Survivors will likely join the ranks of others that have taken up permanent residence there. It features depth, design and gameplay just unique enough to make it stand apart from its peers. I’m looking forward to continuing to unlock and progress through the various modes over time. I don’t think I could give its 1.0 release anything less than the Thumb Culture Platinum Reward!

“Yet Another Zombie Survivors” doesn't revolutionize the genre, but it manages to stand out thanks to its three-character team management and the numerous synergies between abilities and classes. Despite its rather conventional setting and a progression that can be predictable at times, it remains a solid, fast-paced, and very fun bullet hell game (especially when played with friends).
