The shift in gameplay mechanics for this sequel moving away from the roguelike elements of the original has yielded vastly superior results, without detracting from the first game's merits. It is an addictive space looter-shooter that, while offering genuine depth, features arcade-style handling accessible to any type of player; this is now complemented by a massive amount of additional content that expands and enhances an already outstanding experience. And if that still doesn't convince you, the audiovisual presentation surely will: space has never looked this beautiful.
